I cannot tell you how many tech journalists at prominent media organizations do not understand this
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

I messaged a few politics reporters live reporting from the conference, to ask why they hadn’t given the same (or any) coverage to the conferences of the DUP, Greens and Plaid Cymru - all of whom have the same seats as Reform

I got no response and one blocked me

A new ‘pure’ momentum based left wing political party that is meant to be completely against bigotry that starts with Jeremy Corbyn as it’s leader and immediately starts promoting an outspoken transphobe. Even the daily mail couldn’t come up with that.

When centrists adopt far-right rhetoric, they don’t make themselves stronger. They make themselves look inauthentic, legitimise the far right, and shift the political debate onto terrain defined by their opponents.

A reminder: Asylum seekers are in hotels because of a huge application backlog that the gov't must work through. Robert Jenrick - now, bursting with creative solutions - processed applications slowly ***on purpose*** as a deterrent.

🧵 @jcbslide.bsky.social 's reply reflects a common but crucial misunderstanding: that democracy simply is civil liberties and fair procedures. But rights alone don’t guarantee democratic legitimacy. What matters is whether the public can meaningfully participate in truth, power, and accountability.
Our Democracy is freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and the right to a fair trial. Eliot, what about democracy needs to be changed? The consent of the governed? Separation of powers? Private ownership & capitalism maybe? Don’t back seat drive. Share.
It's not that politics is being done wrong, it's that democracy is being done wrong. If he don't fix the latter, the former just becomes performance.
