We need to dispense with the fiction that journals urgently need our proofs back in 48 hours or whatever. It is ~never true (nothing happens if you submit in, say, 5 days) and is unnecessary stressful to junior folks 🧪

At ZEISS in Oberkochen, we have a stunning collection of old microscopes 🔬 in a place called Schatzkammer / treasury at the Carl Zeiss Museum of Optics / Microscopy - Although the origin of some of the 🔬 is unknown, they represent an essential part of tool development history & craftsmanship ❤️😀

When I first started at MIT, Peter shared everything with me, copies of his grants, lab budget, much advice, etc. I used to have regular dinners with Peter. I learned to always let Peter choose the wine. If not, he would complain about the wine. :)
