Nothing can be certain except for ‘death’ and ‘taxes’, and under our duopoly system of govt, ‘extreme profits for the gas cartel’. Gas prices (which set electricity prices) are out of control because the old parties put the cartel ahead of Australians and Australian businesses. #auspol
Gas prices up, Woodside profits up, customers down - Michael West
WA industry and consumers have enjoyed lower gas prices compared to the eastern states, but no more as Woodside doubles its WA gas price.

This isn’t just legally dubious. It’s clearly illegal. Career SES enjoy civil service protections. They can’t be fired without cause.
This is not about performance or merit: people are being fired from their jobs using legally dubious means because their are assumed to not be loyal enough to Trump.
Of course, this will never be framed as cancel culture by the people who spent years warning about it.

Pete Hegseth is the most incompetent of all Trump’s Cabinet picks. He's an alcoholic serial abuser who is unqualified for the job, and he will make our nation less safe. This was a completely reckless confirmation.

Something I was saying as far back as Mueller, who I believe let Trump off the hook:

Not acting for fear of it being perceived as a political decision…is a political decision.

Biden and Garland should’ve realized that there was no way to keep politics out of this, and just done the right thing.

I’m not sure what was worse: that Merrick Garland couldn’t bring himself to prosecute Trump on his own and felt he had to bring in a special counsel as cover, or that he waited so long to do it that Smith never got Trump inside a courtroom.

History won’t be forgiving to Garland.
Jack Smith resigns from DOJ
The special counsel's departure was disclosed in a court filing submitted Saturday afternoon to U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon.

I cannot tell you how tired I am of this bullshit.

Republicans nominated and voted for Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2024. Republican politicians endorsed him and refused to impeach him twice.

Nearly every Democrat fought him every step of the way to protect democracy.

Stop gaslighting us!

James Paterson just said on @abcnews that a Coalition government would cut 36,000 jobs from the Public Service that Labor had increased.
3,000 of those jobs were to Centrelink frontline services in response to Robodebt RC.
That is what LNP calls getting 'back on track'.

The SCOTUS Chief Justice further undermines the Court’s credibility as well as his own when he rejects legitimate criticism while ignoring the corruption of his fellow judges. Deflection is never an acceptable response.

Conflating violence against judges with broad criticism the court faces for its extremism, the chief justice ultimately sends a chilling end-of-year report.
