Don’t park on the sidewalk. Don’t cycle on the sidewalk. The sidewalk is for pedestrians and wheelchairs. Have a nice day

How many times does this have to happen before the City of Vancouver acts? This intersection is adjacent to Queen Alexandra Elementary and is a menace to cyclists and pedestrians alike
Another day, another cyclist sent to the hospital after being hit by a driver at Clark and 10th. Still waiting on that promised action from the city.

The little snowplow, a.k.a. the sidewalk plow, recently went by. Do I squeal in delight every time I see it? Yes, yes I do.

Did some bike lane and sidewalk plowing in #saanich and #victoriabc today.

I've got a bigger trike now and it's pretty straight forward. I wish the city plows could somehow avoid filling the bike lane and sidewalk.

World is burning but nuance guy decides it’s a good day to pick on soft-bodied pedestrians
The idea that driver / pedestrian interactions should immediately, without review, be assumed to be the driver's fault is just as bonkers as the reverse.
As is usually the case, people imagine that every incident is just like the incidents they themselves have experienced.

An owl came down a family's chimney in Virginia and found the perfect spot on top of their Christmas tree.

Animal control came and released the wild barred owl outside.

I think the link between walkability and transit ridership is generally under appreciated.

Hard to love taking the bus if this is my walk to/from the nearest stop:

Today is a clear reminder of why #PlowTheSidewalks is so important and why we have worked tirelessly advocating for the City to release its pilot recommendations.

The City must now follow through on its commitment and fund it. A report is meaningless unless plows hit pavement.

Dunsmuir House provided 100+ shelter spaces for ages but has been closed for 10+ yrs. Balmoral & Regent hotels were condemned in 2017 & 18 respectively & nothing's replaced them. Art Gallery TMH was demolished & Little Mountain TMH is in storage. This is how #Vancouver maintains a #homeless crisis!

Vancouver's big Broadway Plan just got bigger.

Many hate towers. But renters worry how the "strongest protections in Canada" will play out when the demolitions start. Teresa was handed a form with contacts that included "homelessness services."

I wish Trumbull had taken my argument and kept Twin Brooks Drive car free (parks are for people, not cars, after all), but the speed humps and expanded walking/biking paths are a huge improvement. Slow—too slow—but steady change.

I fell on one of our city’s uneven sidewalk’s.

I’m okay but it’s going to leave quite the bruise.

I’m able-bodied and still find our sidewalks dangerous because they’re so uneven and in rough shape, imagine how bad they are for people with disabilities.

An ode to Trumbull’s hilariously shitty sidewalk network. Fortunately the town knows it and is (slowly, too slowly) trying to make up for 50 years of terrible design and an utter disregard for anyone outside of a car.

I’m at a professional event and the speaker is the Bike/Pedestrian engineer for a state DOT. He’s talking about the Safe Routes to Schools initiative of organizing Walking or Biking School Buses.

A greater indictment of car culture is hard to come by. That we need “safety in numbers” for our kids.
