Friends — Here's one "big idea" for how we can start to fix the system in 2026. Let me know your thoughts.

Big thanks to Vince, and the rest of the Oonee Ops team for leaving their families during the holiday season and working all weekend to clear the snow from the region's secure parking stations. This is important, often thankless work keeps cyclists and pedestrians safe.

Always insane to remember that cities like NYC/Philly/Boston could improve transit practically overnight by implementing citywide BRT, and just don't.

NYC on track for near-record low number of homicides in 2025
The number of homicides is in the same ballpark as 2018 and 2017, when the city recorded fewer than 300 killings.

That -11% YoY traffic reduction is actually a bit more impressive than it seems bc traffic was actually getting 3-5% *worse* each year prior.

The true reduction is closer to 14%-16% compared to where we would be without the tolls today.

I love football, but I resent the notion that it’s the government’s job to “keep” billionaire football teams with billions of dollars in subsidies.

Unfortunate to see Democrats making this argument. There are far better ways to spend public dollars.

Deeply humbled to be nominated alongside several other advocates for the @nyc.streetsblog.org advocacy of the year award. As many of you know this is somewhat bitter-sweet for me. (more on that front soon).

You can vote for your preferred the advocate/project at the link below!

Requiring two people on each 🚇 train would have eliminated any possibility for OPTO or automation and would have probably set long-term MTA modernization plan back by a decade.

In Paris entire lines are automated, not every NYC 🚇 needs a two people w/$70k-$120k salaries in order to run.

Thank you BP @bkbpreynoso.bsky.social

It's very possible that we were the wrong choice for NYC program, but as an advocate I want to see the DOT conduct a transparent, thorough process here. I don't understand how process unfolded w/o any questions or interview to local/international consortium.

@shabazzstuart.bsky.social and the Oonee team have worked hard & know the system extremely well. They deserve answers & another opportunity.
Today, Oonee and @cyclehoop.bsky.social filed a formal protest with @nyc-dot.bsky.social with respect to its handling of Secure Bike Parking. The DOT has not responded to our requests for a debriefing and says it won't provide FOIL materials until June (!!!) More below:

I want to thank everyone for the kind words. We will fight this vigorously. We will have more info and behind-the-scenes details soon... There much about this journey that is not known...

In last decade, all I wanted was the opportunity to work w/ @nyc-dot.bsky.social to develop bike infra.
December 5, 2025 at 3:05 AM
This quote ran in @gothamist.com today, and its worth setting record straight. We applied w/ @cyclehoop.bsky.social (5k stations in London) and Altinnova (400 stations in Paris). 500 page proposal and never received an interview or a single follow-up question.

Perhaps not a very thorough search....

I am profoundly grateful for the support. As some of you have requested, I am releasing our full secure bike parking proposal publicly for NYC. We did not take anything for granted-- we partnered with global leaders in London and Paris as well as Motivate + others

Today was the hardest day of my life. We fought for nearly a decade to bring secure bike parking to NYC and ultimately were completely excluded from the @nyc-dot.bsky.social process for citywide system. To those who believed in us and our vision, I am so sorry.
