Schizoposting continues: I think there's an insidious component to denying it existed until you're green in the face. That is, our claims can't be trusted. If we saw it, no we didn't. If it's irrefutable, the final verdict on what we experienced is up to anyone first but us.
Hitlеr particles emissions in these posts demanding we can't say the first part in "I despise the detained pro hаmаs student's views but I demand due process for him" are off the charts. Tasteful, yet subtle.

There are bad ways to train AI, but in general, it's "using" existing work to do what an artist studying it would do: Learning concepts and how those concepts map to visual data. Is it "theft of labor" if I, or a machine, look at pictures of cars to determine what cars look like? It's data analysis.

I'm not saying it's ethical for a company to train AI on the work of its workers for the sake of firing them and passing the savings onto itself. But you're simultaneously framing genAI as doing something it's not, while claiming aspects it shares with normal human artistry are new and unethical.

Also, if you want to get abstract: Any artist "uses" prior labor of all artists whose work they see, and builds upon that as a foundation. That's how culture and learning work. Is it theft of labor if an artist does that instead of growing up in a cave and reinventing graphical art from scratch?

SUPERHOT VR had its whole story patched out. I thought about it slightly too long and fell into rabbit hole. It doesn't make sense, it's bad that it happened, and it prompts a whole bunch of naval-gazing about Art.

It's hard for me not to take this as wanting a full social network where people are ignorant and stupid about these things and everyone just repeats to each other what they have to believe. Pressuring everyone to fall in line like this is so weird and authoritarian. Hate that shit.

Normal criticism of Israel: "The occupation of the West Bank and the siege of Gaza are vile crimes against Israel's treaty obligations under international law."

Dealing with 2 nationalist twitter armies baying for each other's blood, revenge, etc is hard enough, don't need overnight experts, diasporic nationalists, and others who have no knowledge or skin in the game start their hot takes

The thing about Israel's continued war crimes in Gaza is that at this point there's no meaningful military triumph capable of bringing down Hamas' surviving leadership.

Make peace & then use espionage to target the worst unrepentant offenders like a normal state. Anything else is ego stroking.

Instead of honoring them, our culture has thought people who worked for the common good in public service were cringe losers & parasites for a long time.

We paid them poorly, offered mediocre benefits & working conditions, & sneered at them as useless "bureaucrats". It has, and will, cost us.
Not to be too pro technocrat, but it is astounding how much this country depended on the selflessness of like a few hundred thousand highly educated public servants who, for peanuts, made sure our food and medicine and environment etc were safe. And in return these servants were demonized.

With no supplies left to distribute, aid groups like World Central Kitchen had no choice but to shutter operations that have provided life-saving food to families in Gaza.

Netanyahu's act of collective punishment is a searing violation of our Jewish values.

The U.S.-based World Central Kitchen charity has halted work in the Gaza Strip, saying on Wednesday it had run out of supplies and been prevented by Israel from bringing in aid.

That is basically the explicit strategy, yes, a lot of the time people capitalize on the fact that they can simply drown out Jewish or Israeli perspectives in social prejudice and slander & thus achieve a victory they could not by force of arms (or convince others to take up arms for it).
Is the idea that the Palestinian struggle will be materially aided by demanding, but only implicitly, that Israel and its related history be made as close to *damnatio memoriae* as possible?

Like say what you will about Star Wars, high-flying heroics and what Andor is doing are two very different things, both tonally & thematically, to a degree that is just shy of violently at odds. It's not unreasonable for folks to go "that is the best Star Wars" OR to recoil from it as antithetical.

The simple existence of a character like Luthen and his being depicted as critical to the success of the Rebellion when his hands are so filthy with blood & his methods so cruel and cynical is almost *inherently* a mocking condemnation of more vanilla heroes as ultimately useless moral luxury.
