The EU's trade enforcer Denis Redonnet is now talking trade diversion in the European Parliament.

"In some cases e.g. when it comes to China and Chinese imports, there is clearly between 2022 to 25 baseline effects that explain some of the very significant shifts in the data."

The one thing that isn't clear (for a simpleton like me at least) is in theory these US tariffs are supposed to unleash a huge onshoring of manufacturing, which may well happen...

OR, manufacturers think: it's hard to move factories around. Let's just wait until the next election.

Ergo, pain.

This article is exhibit number one of the la-la land Eurocrats and Northern / 'frugal' member states live in. *Of course* Italy, Spain and France won't take more debt to build up their defence -- why would they? There's a buffer zone of many countries between them and Russia. Classic free-riding! 1/
Southern European states are rebuffing a European Commission plan to turbocharge defense spending with cheap loans, fearing it would add to their already heavy debt burdens.

France, Italy and Spain are seeking to boost military spending based on grants rather than loans to avoid increasing their debt loads.

SpaceX, much like Tesla, needs to consider the cost/benefit of continuing to be associated with Musk.
