ICE should be abolished for the simple fact that being undocumented is a civil matter, not a criminal one. And if someone does break the law criminally, that's what we have regular police for. We don't need Patriot Act level gestapo on our streets, we never have.

Hope someone can help me? The copy I have access to of volume 4 No. 1 (1980) of "AEB. Analytical & Enumerative Bibliography" is missing pp. 14 and 79. This appears to be a problem with that specific copy, since I have not found a reported erratum (or the missing page printed) in later volumes. 1/

Rest in peace, Alice Wong.
Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

Kind of satisfying to respond to a referee request with this note (the first two reasons were on a checklist where you could tick only one response, hence the note):

I'll get back to "party unity" as soon as the Senate Minority Leader tells us if he voted for the Democratic party nominee for mayor of his city.

I'm tired of party unity only ever running one way.

These f-ing boomer senators spent their youths singing “The Times They Are a-Changin’” but don’t have the sense to recognize that now *they* are the ones blocking the damn hall.

Counterpoint: The sooner Democratic senators start representing their constituents and fighting the damn fascists instead of rolling over, the likelier our victory in November. You have failed us.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

If you think the president is a tyrant and you're running for office to oppose him the only platform you can have is "Give us enough votes to impeach and remove this menace." Otherwise what's the point of electing you?

There is a fascinating twenty page article in the Ecclesiastical Law Journal explaining how they figured this out, which involved tracing 900 years of history for a chapel built 500 years ago.
