"Just practice" is good and necessary advice, but so frustrating for beginning artists to hear. I think what's missing is the assurance that drawing WILL get more fun. It really will. And the thing that makes it more fun is the control you develop after lots of practice. (thread repost)

Anyway comics are great. I also enjoy graphic novels, but frankly, I'm a fan of long-form comics in a way that graphic novels are typically too restricted to deliver on.

Someone said "we don't distinguish between films for kids & for adults this way" but "graphic novel" is not an age category.
The better comparison is episodic vs serial television. We distinguish show types by how they structurally deliver a story. That is what graphic novels are.

"Graphic novels" aren't a genre, they are a structural designation.
Yes, all graphic novels are comics but all not comics are graphic novels and that is a good thing. Comics have infinite possibility. Graphic novels are a limited structure. Specificity is not a bad thing.

this guy wore a mask and didn't keep his cell phone on him when he fled and as a result a police department that is itself one of the largest armed forces and intelligence agencies on planet earth is completely flummoxed
One of the NYPD brass said “this isn’t blue bloods” when explaining they can’t just immediately find the guy and I like that years of copaganda have set standards cops can’t meet and might be contributing to people’s correct perception that cops don’t effectively stop crime or find killers.

I think we, as a culture, have really done ourselves a disservice by letting Patreon get positioned as a service people pay for.
Patreon isn't supposed to be about paying for access to certain works. It's supposed to be about investing in creators so those works can exist.

Wow trying to get into a new workflow is..... hard. The goal is to release Forever Home (our debut comic) sometime in August, but my personal goal was by the first weekend in August.
But it took me nearly 3 weeks to get back in the comic making groove...
