Fires. The military occupation. The ongoing paramilitary occupation. Repeated attacks on peaceful demonstrations by local cops. Continued hardships as the studios don't do more production in the city. Los Angeles is struggling this year. This win means a lot.
Los Angeles suffered tremendously because of the wildfires. The president of the United States has wanted to make the immigrants who make the city suffer and declared war on the city. But all throughout it, L.A. makes it work daily. It’s a place where people go to make it. LA deserves this.

I think about this so much, in LA in particular. Pay people a living wage and build housing!
makes me weep to think of the gifts robbed from us because unaffordable housing has made it difficult for people to pursue their passions and hobbies

Look, I’m excited about the sweep fan side but employee side is enraged cause they’re gonna cancel my minimum wage shift tomorrow.
We had a tentative contract that not only raised pay significantly, but guaranteed pay for short notice cancelled shifts. That’s not happening because of union busting.

I know people are freaked out by the arrival of troops in blue cities but I can tell you that here in LA, the worst abuses that happened this summer didn’t come from them. They were mostly here for show. The big ugliness came from local law enforcement.

I found this pretty persuasive. Maybe there's some evidence of real harm from the current regulatory status quo but doesn't really seem to be.
