A new state-by-state evaluation of the projected energy and water use of "AI" data centers in the US. Looks… real bad. Like, "undoing tech sector climate gains" bad.

Strongly recommends immediately ensuring any & all new "AI" data centers to run on existing & expanded renewables grids. Which… yeah.

There has been a noticeable reticence in left and liberal circles to voice full-throated support for pornography, even as it's become increasingly clear what the open end goals of the censorship movement are
In a lot of ways other leftists chose this path folks. They shrugged and didn’t care when Patreon banned a ton of hypnosis and TF creators, or when YouTube started their ASMR crackdown. Now it’s coming for queer porn creators, more and more. Who will stand up?

Oh dang. I wonder if this is why I've stopped seeing some folks on here.
Not cool. I'd rather block them myself.
If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

We are democratizing art. No longer will you have to pay someone who owns a data center just to generate pictures. With a pencil and notepad that costs less than a dollar, you too can create Artisanal Imagery.
The word around town is that the next big thing is Artisanal Imagery, hand-made visuals that you simply have to own if you don't want to be left behind

Okay. Current status, 7k, with 5 left to go in a little over two weeks. Can I get a signal boost from folks? I know it's memorial day weekend. But let's see if we can push this through!
Right. Another GFM update, because well, I'm only three weeks out, and need 1800+ more to still hit that first initial goal of getting my rent covered for while I'm dealing with surgery and recovery. Share this around and help spread the word? gofund.me/74494d4f

this is excellent work & contains call/email templates at the end with callouts for the specific legislative mechanisms democratic senators could use to kill this part of the bill.

read the piece. make the calls. there’s no earthly reason any senator’s phone should stop ringing in the near future.

Help if you can 💙
Time for the latest gfm update. Basically, i've got a month. I've got a month, I'm nowhere close to goal and this is all happening all at once all over again. If you can, please, help. Even if it's just sharing this around wherever you can.

Update May 5, 2025: In a win for privacy and encryption, the Florida Legislature ended its regular 2025 session on May 2 without passing SB 868 / HB 743.
Encryption is one of the most important tools we have to protect privacy online. Florida’s SB 868 intends to completely undermine it while also putting the privacy and safety of young people at risk. Learn more about this dangerous bill and tell FL lawmakers that they must protect digital privacy.
Florida’s Anti-Encryption Bill Is a Wrecking Ball to Privacy. There's Still Time to Stop It.
We've seen plenty of bad tech bills in recent years, often cloaked in vague language about "online safety." But Florida’s SB 868 doesn’t even pretend to be subtle: the state wants a backdoor into encr...

As one of Senator Slotkin's constituents: seriously, what fresh hell is this? Michigan is better than this, and better than the "woke is weak" line Senator Slotkin's been towing of late.
So Sen. Slotkin wants to cut the Adverse Effect Wage Rate (AEWR). That’s just what it sounds like. It’s calculated to be the lowest wage possible to pay foreign guest workers, without having an adverse effect on American wages.

Respectfully asking @slotkin.senate.gov: what the fresh hell is this?
Instead of fighting to protect American workers, Elissa Slotkin told us she’s decided to work with the GOP to make it easier and cheaper to import vulnerable foreign guest workers.

How does THAT add up to a “war plan” against Trump?
