Update: The cause of the service disruption is an apparent act of vandalism that resulted in fiber being cut near BART's Hayward Yard.

The fiber cut prevents BART from being able to safely run trains. Crews are on scene making repairs.

This lawsuit is asking to be a vehicle for overturning NYT v. Sullivan (which established the actual malice we know and love for public figures).

It is a request to overturn longstanding precedent that allows us to criticize our politicians and remove our free speech.
So this Trump lawsuit is wacko for many, many reasons, but THIS IS NOT WHAT ACTUAL MALICE MEANS in the legal context. At all.

I would urge against referring to what is happening to Kilmar as a deportation. When people are deported, they are sent to their home country or "country of origin." What is happening to Kilmar and many others under the Trump administration is... something else entirely.
Let’s be clear: deporting Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda makes no sense—it’s not his home country. Nothing about this process has been fair. ICE is targeting him with cruelty. This is the weaponization of government, not justice.
Kilmar Abrego Garcia detained by ICE during Baltimore check-in
The detention, which was expected, happened after Abrego Garcia walked into the Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Baltimore for a check-in after being released from custody on Friday.

the TX Dems leaving Collier out to dry is a level of surrender we simply did not believe possible.

it's one thing to surrender, the shame of which should haunt you the rest of your life, but to then abandon one of your own to the cops is something we are legitimately struggling to find words for.

It's official, the bus I used to take is not returning. I'll need to continue taking BART. Which if fine, but I really enjoyed how convenient the boys was, especially in the morning

I don't know who needs to see/here this, but a great alternative (for 1 or 2 persons, depending on time, maybe even 3) to ride share to get to/from SNA to the hotels near Disneyland, is the EVE option from the Anaheim Regional Transportation

Make no mistake, the SCOTUS decision about birthright citizenship IS ALSO ABOUT *birthright citizenship.*
The Court is using nationwide injunctions as the tail, wagging the dog, to take us back to an Antebellum view of citizenship.
That way led to war once.
My latest in @thenation.com
The Supreme Court's Birthright Citizenship Ruling Is a Five-Alarm Catastrophe
In Trump v. CASA, the court hands the president yet more unaccountable authority—and yanks us into a neo-Confederate legal nightmare.

Due to a computer networking problem BART service is suspended system wide until further notice. Seek alternate means of transportation. Find more info at bart.gov/alternatives
