New, from me: DHS says immigration enforcement employees like ICE are facing unprecedented threats and 1000% increase in assaults. But the data does not add up. Look at the details, and we see state agents using excessive force, and then lying about it.

@tkingfisher.com I wanted to thank you for the Saints of Steel books, which have kept me sane these past few months when I was immobilized for long stretches from medical procedures. Just what I needed--engaging, heartwarming, with an interesting set of puzzles and characters I came to love. Thanks.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

I feel like the Guardian is usually better than this.
What kind of "brief struggle?" Who initiated the contact? How did he "become unresponsive" after being taken into custody? Why did he need medical aid (and when were paramedics called)?

Describe a single historical precedent for defeating authoritarians by being nicer to them.
Klein explicitly says his project is to dishonestly portray the true nature of the right for his readers in hopes that helps foster some common ground to heal our nation. This didn’t work for Obama and it’s not gonna work for him.

But should we really be taking healthy lifestyle advice from the heroin-and-roadkill guy?

once again reminded of how the NYT sent me more emails to fact check Rice Truck than they have had critical sentences about invading greenland or whatever the fuck ol pudding brain was on about that day
A lot of people who are incredibly shrewd critical thinkers when someone posts a cute but improbable story, have a hard time recognizing when they’re being snowed by every piece of propaganda and outrage manufacturing they see in the news and online.

Just found out my husband's sang "Son of Preacher Man" and "Afternoon Delight" with his 8th grade choir (~1979)

because the choir director thought they were about 1) religion and 2) a picnic

My husband figured it out when I started laughing uncontrollably at his sentimental playlist. This year.

PSA: I am probably going to be meaner than usual this week as I watch my country decide if it’s going to install a blood thirsty mad king with access to nuclear weapons who wants to kill me and my loved ones.

I imagine this goes for many Americans.

There are 122 local NWS offices, and it takes a few minutes per site to create and configure the account, but I'm working through them. Holler if there's one you want prioritized.
