A great ABC show on Sydney YIMBY.
A clear and accessible explanation of what the YIMBYs are about.

This is ludicrous. It would render all the strict constraints Congress placed on the exercise of this extraordinary statutory power meaningless if no court can decide whether they're satisfied. If the president says the ACLU and the Democratic Party are foreign armies, then I guess they are.
6) There is no court role to question Trump’s judgment that Tren de Aragua is, effectively, a foreign government and has made a “predatory incursion” into the United States. It is “the President’s call alone.” storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I am at work in the city today. Was going to vote at lunch, as I’ll be away on Election Day. Despite almost every other Sydney seat being represented, none of the polling places in the CBD have voting for Hume.

Given the literal definition of deportation is removing a foreigner or noncitizen from the country, we - journalists, media orgs - should probably all stop referring to the ‘deportation’ of a 2 year old US citizen. It’s NOT a deportation.

I’m not sure what it is. A kidnapping?

Why are we trying to preserve every celebrity's childhood home when we could build more housing for people who need it?

Keen to understand why people are losing their minds over an old house.

Helping to run Find A Bed is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done, but it was also deeply traumatic. Feeling pretty sensitive seeing the LA coverage, and feeling for all the people directly affected, and the many people who will love and support them. It’s a long road. Go gently.

Yeah, the story here isn’t that a state court proceeding is being allowed to continue normally, it’s that there are four Supreme Court justices prepared to shamelessly rubber stamp any demand Trump makes.
5–4, with Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh in dissent. Just incredible that there were 4 conservative votes for what would have been a blatantly improper action.

It’s such a telling difference between Australia and the US that they rely on private non-profits to fund this, while our version (at least in NSW) which I believe has been around a lot longer, is government developed and operated.

As proof that any idiot could see right through this but somehow the EFF couldn’t, this idiot certainly did…

Framing this as “fixing its over-censorship problem” is an extraordinarily bad position to take for the EFF.

They know exactly what this is about, and pretending it is something that it’s not only damages its own reputation.
We applaud Meta’s efforts to try to fix its over-censorship problem but will watch closely to make sure it is a good-faith effort and rolled out fairly and not merely a political maneuver to accommodate the upcoming U.S. administration change.
