ICYMI earlier this month, because the government shutdown affected me, I put together a small collection of stories at a set price to have a little $$$ coming in

Since I'm back at work, I lowered the price to pay what you want. Now your chance!

When I was a kid, the big push for hand dryers was to get rid of homeless people who wanted to clean themselves up with paper towels. So all you awful rich people need to talk about this over Thanksgiving and figure out the best way to make everyone else suffer for your vanity and malice.
At this point, the Washpost edit page is just trolling its readers.

This is today's actual house editorial.

The IWW released a songbook called the Starvation Army to drown out those bell ringing santas. This was over a hundred years ago, even then they knew the Salvation Army was crooked. @nycdsachoir.bsky.social can tell you more

we used to feed this pig when I was a kid wow. When I visited several years ago Porky was really beaten up and chipped but looks like he's got a nice coat of paint since
Porky the Litter Eater is only a short drive from my house. I must feed him cans, but not glass. Glass gives him a stomach ache.

Started PLURIBUS yesterday, & it's a fine example of why execution is what matters in art. There's nothing incredibly original in the high concept premise, but by pilot's end it sings because of the writing, performances, direction, what Gilligan's personal vision brings to it.
I hate those tropey arrows so much. Nothing puts me off so quickly. The best content in the world, whatever that might mean, doesn’t matter if the form, or sensibility, is bad. Writing lives or dies on the *writing.*
I get why authors are compelled to do it, but few things make me want to read a book/story less than those tropelist pointing to the book marketing banners. I really wish they'd go away, but I guess they Do work as a marketing tactic on more people than they're off-putting to.

I'm gonna say one that happened recently. I read Jacqueline Harpman's I Who Have Never Known Men when I was super depressed and was like wow this is me
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

normally I don't like it when people rush to infer queerness in every depiction of men displaying homosocial intimacy, I find it reductive and even a little fetishistic.
That being said this is basically a hardcore sex scene
