Susan was the master of news hosting's rarest quality: she listened to what the guest actually said and responded accordingly, without ever letting the main thread of the conversation get away from the audience.

Ever since Trump arrived in DC, Pelosi, has confounded him. He has tried to intimidate, undermine and embarrass her. Those efforts more often than not backfired.
Pelosi seemed not only unintimidated, but also permanently appalled + deeply unimpressed.

This is a form of social prejudice that @svmiller.com and I find is empirically associated with weak support for democracy. (Will link paper below.) We’ve stalled on the book project but we document that anti-neighbor prejudice of this nature is corrosive to democratic values.
