Free money was fun, like all good trips, while it lasted. The hangover is not.
The 2007-20 economy relied, to an unhealthy degree, on very low interest rates.

Whole industries made bank as long as they got virtually free money from the govt and could easily roll over debt, but now have trouble and appear out of ideas.

Also helps explain why Trump keeps demanding lower rates.

sure seems like the president is a pedo and people will wonder “have his supporters no shame?” and it’s like these folks have been covering for sex pests for decades in the church of all places so no it’s just business as usual for the grand old party

claude is pretty good at de-bugging and triaging code. you need to know a programming language to use LLMs in a helpful way, but, if you do, its a big improvement over 90s-era .readme documentation. it beats fishing through stack exchange, with the appropriate caveats.
suspect a big reason why many academics and others who work in areas where getting facts RIGHT is key are disinterested in using LLMs for research:

they’ve tried it, they keep noticing major errors in output, and they conclude that having to verify all that doesn’t actually save them time.

notre dame should be irritated at a playoff system that allows little sibling programs like JMU and Tulane a place at the table. the talent drop-off is so severe that these games are a farce. ole miss gets to feel good about whooping up on tulane, here's a cookie, only to meet a real buzzsaw next.

I also think they’re so high on their own supply that they’re actually just stupid.
People have been explaining since the moment "Popularism" became a thing that it is based on a fatally flawed understanding of how public opinion actually works and I long ago concluded that it's simply too profitable for them, personally, to keep repeating it for anyone to care that it's wrong.

I remember going to Best Buy, Circuit City, even Walmart as a kid, and the computer game boxes were always a highlight -- the box art, the little details on the back jacket. So many options, so tactile holding them. Physical game boxes are dead and consoles locked up in a glass prison. 0/10 fun.

the republican party -- in its current form -- is a cancerous boil on the underbelly of democracy and must be excised for the nation's health. research argues that a sane conservative party may be necessary to grease the wheels of democracy, but this is not it. burn it to the ground.
