curious to see whether SCOTUS permits Trump's abuse of constitution across lots of issues but rn it looks like trump take legitimacy. @matthewhitt.bsky.social and i are finally...finally forthcoming in AJPS talking at length abt a new era of judicial public opinion.

“Senators are millionaires beholden to corporate interests” is the boring but parsimonious explanation for most dumb shit
November 11, 2025 at 12:13 AM
A competent Democratic Party would spam the shit out of that headline: “JD Vance now leads the GOP. And he wants the party to welcome Hitler lovers.”

Salience and popularity are not magic: agenda-setting and brutal message discipline turn hearts and minds.
It’s a classic Vance rhetorical move that’s almost indecipherable unless you're doused in MAGA. Instead of calling out the Hitler-loving Fuentes, he called out anyone who has been calling out Fuentes. And he called on the GOP to unite around the things they love, like deporting brown children.
JD Vance now leads the GOP. And he wants the party to welcome Hitler lovers.
The VP wants peace with gutter racists who spew vile hatred at his wife. And the press refuses to reckon with what this means.

The OG Santa Clause is pretty good. Disney’s naked cash grab “series” fast forwards in time, and it is abjectly bad. While Principal Newman is an all-time Mrs Claus, this dopey elf Noel (right) is the single most annoying elf ever depicted on film.

"We’re done waiting for Dems to find their spine. We can’t afford a weak & cowardly Democratic Party while the authoritarians invade our cities, terrorize our communities, & threaten our democracy. We get the party we demand, & we intend to demand a Democratic Party that fights.” — @indivisible.org

Schumer is just as loathsome an old fart as they come.
This allows Trump (via DOJ) to use taxpayer money to bribe eight GOP Senators. It's that simple, there's no other way to describe it.

And where's the compensation for people injured by the Trump admin's unlawful conduct through DHS & DOGE?

Take a bow, @schumer.senate.gov, you did this.

It’s a very good read. Flabbergasted that Rahm Emanuel is still circling the drain of political relevance, though.

“Crony capitalism is bad for the economy and true proponents of the free market would never do bribes like these”

Is one of those things that I wish politicians could run on but that makes the average voters eyes glaze over.
I can't tell you how many interviews I've done where I've been asked: If Trump's policies are so problematic, why are U.S. stocks rising so rapidly.

A bit of international context illustrates the real issue here.

U.S. stocks have dramatically underperformed other advanced economies.

im not too sure the Democratic Party has a brand other than milquetoast losers who hate their constituents — for a party obsessed with polling get a clue yall
Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"
November 10, 2025 at 1:46 PM
Time and again the Democratic Party answers the question “why should we vote for you?” with the sound of a squealing fart
I'm hearing the same thing. Dems are nearing a surrender. I'm shocked. Largest protest in history + best election night in years + polling showing we're kicking their ass in public opinion. And now Dems may cave.

It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

The court not having a proper comms office is just absolutely hilarious bc it transforms a situation like this into an absolute bloodbath of public wrath over a technical issue that could have been explained by some PR lackey
UPDATE: Justice Jackson temporarily blocks SNAP benefits order to allow appeals court to rule.

DOJ asked SCOTUS for a stay as USDA was in the middle of completing its process for making full payments. Jackson's order came a little past 9 p.m.

if you nuke the humanities then you lose the people who tell the history stories of how peasants violently took back what’s theirs.

anyways billionaires are a moral failure and they should not exist.

Republicans: “Let them starve”
#BREAKING: The Trump administration is asking #SCOTUS for an immediate “administrative” stay of a Rhode Island district judge’s order that is otherwise requiring it to resume the distribution of SNAP benefits from other funding sources no later than the end of today.

this is clear evidence for why @jonmladd.bsky.social needs a second edition of "why americans hate the media" -- it simply must be done.
About half of the teens surveyed believe that journalists frequently “make up details, such as quotes” and “pay for sources.” More than a third of teens believe journalists could improve by simply “Telling the truth,” “Fact checking,” and “Not lying.” buff.ly/7vgO0ci

Jason Stanley isn’t afraid to use the F-word when talking about President Donald Trump.

The author of How Fascism Works and Erasing History: How Fascists Rewrite the Past to Control the Future is clear: He believes the US is currently under an authoritarian regime led by a fascist leader.
I study fascism. I’ve already fled America.
On this week’s “More To The Story,” former Yale philosophy professor Jason Stanley explains his recent move to Canada and calls the Trump administration’s takeover of the US government a “coup.”

If your primary justification for higher education is “Transferable Skills” or “Job Training” then you might as well just shut the modern university down bc let me assure you there is precious little the about booze-sports-party culture that pays our bills that involves creating good widget makers.
