Reeves refuses wealth tax, because too easy to dodge, wld raise less than predicted. That's true for most taxes, and rails could be raised to make dodging more difficult.
Sadly, hitting the poor appears to be a political choice.
You can't cut to growth.

Disability Rights UK's Statement on the government’s planned benefits cuts

“The Government is demonising and punishing Disabled people for the economic failures of successive governments. Why isn't it looking to the rich to plug its funding gap?”

Rachel Reeves: I will not 'tax and spend'.

That means cuts in some govt depts.

So far, two child benefit cap, winter fuel payment cut, freeze on income tax thresholds; proposed benefit cuts

Must ditch the fiscal rules. Tax the rich.

Can't grow economy without that.

Disabled people don’t “play the system”

The system plays us.

For example, the reason there are so many guides to answering assessment Qs, is because the questions make it almost impossible to accurately verbalise what you need to.

#DisabilityBenefits means we can provide the professional support L1 needs weekly or more often.

The NHS locally has long waits for MH support & then it’s 6 sessions & you are done.

Yes, Rachel: the world has indeed changed. The gap between rich and poor has widened hugely. You could address this, but instead you add to it. Morally and economically you’re in the wrong and you will be judged on that.

Good morning to everyone affected by the #DisabilityBenefits cuts. This week has carved anguish into so many—but also carved out solidarity. You are not broken, burdensome, or alone. We refuse their cruelty—we resist in all the way and build mutual aid. With you all the way-Jay x

Happy #SocialistSunday

Always money for war.
Always money for the Royal family.
But when it comes to the disabled, there’s only cuts.

Why should they and others pay for the terrible mismanagement of the economy? #bbclaurak #TrevorPhillips

To revive economy UK govt must redistribute wealth.

Bottom 50% of the population has 5% of wealth; bottom fifth has 0.5%. 1% have more than 70% population combined.

Median wage is £29,604. Real average wage unchanged since 2008.

Cut taxes on the bottom 50%. Tax wealth. End tax perks of the rich.
Here’s how Rachel Reeves’ Spring Statement must offer hope

There is an alternative to Government welfare cuts - a 2% tax on wealth. There is no shortage of money here, we just need a fairer approach to tax - take more from the few not the many.

A bit of good news: NHS England hospital waiting list falls for 4th month in row. The lowest figures since April 2023. Considering the “quademic” and winter months, this is an achievement for both the NHS and Labour government.

So it’ll obviously be all over the news, right?
