If you're not ok with sending a Nigerian prince your personal and private information, why would you be ok with a South African oligarch barging into government offices and stealing it?

as a lawyer, i must insist that no one ever engage in piracy especially for ebooks

what makes it so insidious is they're so small - you theoretically can just go out and grab like EVERY BOOK EVER and have them on a tiny hard drive that you could just spread everywhere so dont do it

I think it will be good for us to leave the kindles behind and go back to spending time around people at actual bookstores. I’m actually thinking back to how much I enjoyed just spending time at local bookstores. I’m done with Amazon anyway, Bezos showed us his colors already. He is FOR this chaos.

A tale of Elon and his apologists:

Elon lets Nazis back on his platform - "he's defending free speech"

He regularly amplifies supremacist ideologies, memes and conspiracy theories - "he's doing it for engagement"

He does the Nazi salute (twice) - "he has autism-ish"

Elon is a Nazi.

The End.

My youngest son is diagnosed as twice exceptional: he’s both on the Autism spectrum and academically gifted.

He’s never once accidentally saluted Nazis.

The purpose of yesterday was to frighten us to submitting in advance. I have my freedom of speech and I will use it here and everywhere else I exist online to make my voice heard. No oligarch, no president will silence me. So, be prepared for more Latinx books just as soon as my mourning ends, okay?

So, I just started college (for the second time, at 30 lol). My first class is Critical Thinking and I was really struggling through the first part, but now that I’m on the back half and I’m learning about fallacies and biases and how to argue effectively, I just gotta say 1/2

yes, LA cut its fire department budget last year. but also yes, it also increased total fire department spending. here's how both things can be true -- and how the simplistic narratives that have been circulating this week ignore the complicated reality: www.nytimes.com/2025/01/09/u...

A closer look at the mechanics of budgeting offers some answers, but the financing is far from rosy.

My feelings EXACTLY.
Thoughts on Hunter pardon:

- I don’t love it, but I completely understand why he did it

- with everything the incoming administration is telling us they’re going to do, we probably need to stop handcuffing ourselves with standards they won’t follow

- I wish it wasn’t this way

As a chronic people pleaser, exiting the high-demand religion I was raised in was the hardest thing I ever did. It’s taken 5 years to get to the point where I am at peace with my family never understanding me and some not wanting a relationship with me. This election has gotten me there politically.

My husband is more motivated than I think he’s ever been - he’s really struggled with depression but this shitty election has helped him find so much focus and purpose. In defending our household, figuring out a stable career, and sticking it to the man. Now I’m the depressed one 🙃
