Trump just fired the three Democratic members of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The CPSC regulates the safety of everyday consumer products.

Guess who recently sued the agency and claimed that it's "unconstitutional"?

Amazon.

Connect the dots.

In New York, ICE detained a busload of farmworkers that were actively involved in a union drive.

In Washington state, ICE dragged a farmworkers’ rights activist and leader out of his car to detain him.

Be warned: attacking unions is a hallmark of fascism.

How we beat back the corporate takeover of America:

1. Break up corporate monopolies

2. Continue building union power

3. End Citizens United and get big money out of politics

Let’s keep working to unrig the system.

It was never just about schools, it was never just about libraries, and it isn't actually about the books.

It's about finding a way to banish entire people, entire ideas, out of society, back into the closet or worse.

Texas bill could punish bookstores for 'obscene' books
A new bill in the Texas Legislature, authored by Rep. Nate Schatzline, would allow businesses to be held liable if a minor reports damages from "obscene" books.

Last Friday, Trump's EPA shut down a Biden-era website mapping locations of dangerous chemical plants.

The chemical industry, which gave over $1M to Trump's inauguration, heavily lobbied the Trump administration to scrap the website. See how this works?
The Government’s Chemical Disaster Tracking Tool Just Went Dark
The chemical lobby demanded Trump make the locations of high-risk chemical plants secret. The EPA did just that.

The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate.

The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns.

Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.

The list goes on and on.

Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.

Our economy is far larger than it was decades ago.

Where have most of the gains gone? To the top.

Any path forward must include a fight to restructure the economy toward more widely shared prosperity.

This isn’t a blue state vs. red state phenomenon. It’s a class phenomenon.

Learned from a newspaper ad woman in upstate NY and a bookshop owner in Montreal what this trade war could do to words. Much or most newsprint comes from Canada, soon subject to U.S. tariffs. & Canada is putting 25% on U.S. books. Which includes, get this, Handmaid’s Tale.

Walked past a Cybertruck parked in front of a sidewalk cafe in NYC today. Friend stopped to look for something in his pocket and the owner clicked the fob to make sure we knew he was watching over it.

Imagine buying a tank to feel safe in the big bad world and instead you have to keep the car safe.

In the late 1940s into the 1950s, the US sought to ideologically deport individuals, including those who had lived in the US for most of their lives.

"Should Miss Liberty Be Deported?" is a pamphlet in 1950 calling on the public to help challenge these deportations.
