As a Girl Scout leader in the US, this is such bullshit. The trans kids in our troop are wonderful and should a decision like this be made here, we'd never exclude them. Shame on Girlguiding UK.
my older sister had a girl guide handbook from when she’d considered joining, and I read that thing over and over, yearning to be part of everything it represented. this is such ugly news, such a blow to young trans girls

Trans girls banned from joining Girlguiding
Girlguiding says the move is in response to the Supreme Court ruling that said sex meant biological sex in equality law.

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.

Nothing like paying taxes on capital gains from last year that have already been erased this year. 🙃 Plus knowing all the horrible things they will fund in this administration.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

Don't stop banging the drum: Anyone who considers it good policy to look at children's genitals before they can play sports is someone who just likes to look at children's genitals, and cannot be trusted in any position of power.
1. Yesterday, Minnesota State Senator Justin Eichorn was arrested on charges of soliciting a minor.

He's previously cosponsored a bill that would require genital checks for sports in order to ban trans people from sports.

Minnesota Anti-Trans State Senator Arrested For Soliciting A Minor
Anti-trans elected officials appear to be far more likely to be a danger to minors than drag queens or transgender people.

87% of jobs at Amazon pay less than $20 an hour while half of its warehouse workers struggle to cover food and housing costs.

Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos saw his net worth increase by $7.9 million an hour in 2023.

Is this the "free market" Bezos is so desperate to defend?

I have good friends who work for USAID. I'm devastated for them.
From USAID colleague, with permission to share. It's not just chaos it is devastation and tearing apart of families and communities. Not to talk of systems that kept us safe. This is just one story, multiple this by 10,000.
Is this really making America great?

Asked a seasoned State Dept employee how Marco Rubio has been received so far.

"He has a minder, like a Trump campaign minder."

A what?

"Someone in his office, not of his choosing. [Like with Tillerson], they sent somebody over because he wasn't totally within the fold." 👀

Fun one from today that nobody seems to be clocking amidst all the more substantive chaos. The White House comms department is now declaring that Trump can now "sign [an] executive order into law" without a bill passing Congress. Have never seen this language from a prior White House.

Conclusion: Women are using the health of their children as an excuse to embrace far right beliefs. And they are full of it. They are only willing to do superficial things that require no work, sacrifice, or meaningful change. When actual healthy changes are suggested, they can’t be bothered.

Folks: I understand your fear and exasperation and why so many of you are demanding that Democrats "DO SOMETHING" to stop Trump. I want you to know this Democrat is doing everything he can of to meet this moment and make a difference. If you have better ideas, I'm all ears.
