FOI requests are routinely rejected on safety/security grounds.

This is a totally specious argument by Albanese
The PM said in QT that anonymous FOI requests also raise security issues, stating "the Jewish community, including the Jewish board of deputies made representations about some of the FOI applications that go to security... around Jewish synagogues, Jewish schools."

Labor's FOI reforms are a betrayal of democracy. FOI is broken and rather than fixing it, Labor is seeking to make it more expensive and even more impenetrable. Government information belongs to the people they are supposedly working for but they keep hiding more and more.

How is it reasonable that the “E-Safety Commissioner” can make such absurd rules about how we get to use the interwebs just because she feels like it?
Australia's decision to require age/identity verification, including facial scans, in order to do a Google search is dystopian.

We're watching the death of an open, anonymous internet, and the gradual takeover of information online by the state — under the guise of protecting children.
Australia is quietly rolling out age checks for search engines like Google
Just as Australians are adjusting to the idea of having their ages checked for social media, age assurance rules are being applied to search engines and many other corners of the internet.
