Been having trouble getting medical supplies at my PO Box in the last month. Just set up a UPS box. People take getting mail safely for granted and underestimate the ancillary costs of being disabled.

People have a right to info about their own bodies
Tfw you have to move your VPN to Canada because a link to a website about menstrual cycles for teenage girls is blocked in the US

But please remember porn bans are about protecting children from seeing sexual content 🙃

Facebook has been my primary social media platform for most of my life. The difference between using it now and BlueSky is incredibly jarring…actually seeing what is going on the world instead of just seeing inane reels and ads.

I went to see a Death Tribute band in May at the TLA because Chuck Schuldiner died in 2001 and musicians still want to play his songs. It was an awesome show and it was great to see people younger than myself potentially learning about the bands. Nostalgia can fuel memorials too.

As I frequently tell people, please be my co-conspirator, not my ally.
We need to be relentlessly hostile to any politician supporting anti-trans laws or even giving the tiniest hint that they will go along with them in order to win. We need to make it absolutely impossible for them to get away with this. So far, the cis community has failed miserably at that.

I know I’m not the first to do this, but I found using the Simpsons as a reference point a shockingly comprehensive way to highlight the effect of wage stagnation to my folks. Homer could never afford that house now!

I head someone explain this as “Good weird is being weird about your own business, bad weird is being weird about other people’s business” and I thought that summed it up pretty well.
Stop being the bad kind of weird. This place is for the good kind of weird only. 🦋

Freddy Mercury died of AIDS 33 years ago today. With modern medical technology, he likely would have lived. Never forget how much progress against major infectious disease has been made in a short time. We are at risk now of rolling back much of that progress.

While we’re on the subject, my experience was that women were less respectful of personal space in public restrooms than men are. Men aggressively don’t make eye contact and act ashamed to be there, but they will never talk to you while you are in a stall or ask personal questions.

I saw a post recently (cannot remember the platform) about how much of the GOP’s policies basically boil down to the idea that your body does not belong to you, but it belongs to the State or the men in your life.

No, it belongs to you!
The thing that keeps getting me about all the pieces fretting about Bluesky being too insular is that the argument seems to be that those of us who are most likely to be abused by the right (BIPOC people, trans people, queer people, etc) must put up with being abused for the sake of public discourse

I wonder if the acquisition of MSNBC will have more of an impact on the social consciousness of American voters. Can think of many people who thought Twitter was frivolous and who aren’t online!
This is exactly right. Elon fooled lots of people into thinking that his acquisition of Twitter was about protecting free speech—it was always about reengineering a public square into a reactionary echo chamber. Which is why he’s flirting with running the same play again with MSNBC.

It frustrates me when people are very anti-nap. As someone with sleep apnea, I am *very* aware of the importance of a regular schedule.

But naps are also the cheapest, most accessible, and reliable way for me to manage joint pain as someone with a connective tissue disorder.

But this is a zero sum view of trans issues, as though we need to compete with each other for turns to be seen.

What would be much more helpful is for cis allies to develop more mature ways of naming different forms of trans hate and recognizing when they occur.

Important note for reporters covering the GOP's effort to ban trans women from bathrooms on Capitol Hill: while Sarah McBride and Nancy Mace both have private bathrooms in their offices, the trans people who are not elected officials who have to work there every day do not.

Stop going “What are WE? A bunch of MUSLIMS?” with y’all’s analogies

Stop blaming Muslims for WHITE XSTIANS

Y’all are being bigots

The transvestigating continues on multiple fronts.

I explained what this term means to my mom last night and equated it to phrenology. She said “Oh, so eugenics”.

For some reason, a Fox News host thinks John Krasinski is trans
Yes, you read that right. A baffling segment from Fox News' Greg Gutfeld questioning the A Quiet Place actor's gender identity has left many folks scratching their heads.

not to be too harsh but what’s the use of transgender representation in congress if they will immediately give in to fascist demands. genuinely what’s the purpose to this at all here
1. Transgender Congresswoman Sarah McBride has announced that she will comply with Speaker Johnson's policy declaring her a man and banning trans people from bathrooms.

She is receiving sharp critiques from those with trans friends who work in the capitol.

Congresswoman McBride Announces She Will Comply With Rules Declaring Her a Man
The decision comes after Mike Johnson declared that transgender people are not allowed in bathrooms of their gender identity under the provision that he "controls the facilities."

A betrayal as well to Pennsylvania voters who came out to keep Oz from power
The woman who served as Director of Operations on John Fetterman’s U.S. Senate campaign speaks out about Fetterman’s willingness to vote to confirm Dr. Oz (Fetterman’s opponent in that race) if Oz says he will protect and preserve Medicare and Medicaid.

Yeah they made us take a class about “Medicare fraud” at my job at I was grumpy about it until I realized that it was so we could call out the cruel people who work with vulnerable populations so it’s easier for them to pocket the money for themselves.

BREAKING

President-elect Trump says he intends on nominating Dr. Oz to serve as CMS Administrator.

As CMS Administrator, Dr. Oz will oversee Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

These programs provide healthcare to over 100 million Americans.
