If firing the COs who are striking to maintain their power to torture and kill prisoners causes “understaffing,” the policy solution will be straightforward: Release prisoners through executive clemency and shutter more prisons.

The new confederacy into which Musk, Trump, & co. are trying to remake America can be defeated, but only by a broad, united front.

@fedworkersunited.bsky.social, a key new formation in this front, is organizing a day of action this Wed, Feb 19. Join if you can.

The chaotic efforts of Trump and Musk to dismantle the federal govt—seemingly without regard to legality and in violation of union contracts—are meant to strike fear.

But federal workers and their unions are fighting back. Our organizer Joe DeManuelle-Hall reports: labornotes.org/2025/02/fede...

14,000 new members joined in the past five weeks.

This has been two weeks of constant events that are more dangerous than January 6th or, I’d absolutely argue, even 9/11, and it is a damning indictment of American media that so many publications and reporters are too cowardly, too docile, to act like it.
Yes. Meanwhile the rest of mainstream media is largely acting like this has been a mildly worrisome two weeks, not the greatest scandal and danger to America that any of us has ever lived through.
Is it just me or has WIRED been dogwalking the rest of the media on this story

"would you please put that in writing" is how you pull off insubordination without actually being insubordinate. Very useful when you are getting sketchy (whatever 'sketchy' might mean) instructions from someone who might not want to take responsibility for it later.

Have you been asked, as a federal worker, to do something you don't want to do? But they won't put it in writing?

DON'T DO IT.

If they're going to punish you? MAKE THEM PUT IT IN WRITING. ALL OF IT.

Document, document, document.

Act confused. Be confused! Go slow. Require clarity. Lots. Document
