I think these numbers remind us that we need to grapple with whether Twitter gets the amount of attention it does because people use it or because journalists still use it as their assignment editor and as the laziest, most inaccurate “Here’s the word on the street” source on earth.

How’s it going on the right, you ask? Well a Trump supporter was arrested a few days back for threatening to kill Trump and a bunch of other people because Candace Owens has been saying that Trump conspired with the Jews to assassinate Charlie Kirk.
“When asked if he actually believed the President had killed Charlie Kirk, Wachter said he would ‘need to hear more from [internet personality] Candace Owens,’” Assistant U.S. Attorney Nils Kessler said. On Oct. 23, Wachter allegedly wrote on X that ‘if you killed Charlie im gonna kill you,’ followed by usernames for Trump, his son Donald Trump Jr., First Lady Melania Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In a call with a Secret Service agent, Wachter said he was Trump supporter. He denied planning to harm anyone and said he lacked the means. U.S. Magistrate Judge Sally Berens on Monday, Nov. 3, released Wachter for in-patient treatment services with Network 180 for the amount of time the agency recommends.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

People fucking hate this guy. They fucking hate ICE. They fucking hate how much power he has. He is at 63% overall disapproval to 37% approval. That's lower than their poll after January 6th. And this poll was done before he started intentionally starving people. I wish our media would reflect this.

Utterly bizarre to describe climate change policy as some kind of radical-left albatross.

The IRA contained precisely the kind of 'kitchen table' programs everyone says Democrats should focus on — and they're popular!

The problem was that Americans *didn't know* what the IRA was or who passed it.
It is completely obvious that the party lost in 2024 because it overcommitted to a range of unpopular left-wing positions, some of which yielded disastrous policy results (like the Biden migration wave) while others merely persuaded constituencies that had voted Democratic in the past (like blue-collar Midwesterners or culturally conservative Latino men) that the party now cared more about climate change In poll after poll, Americans have said that they know little to nothing about the IRA, with the most recent poll, out in April 2024, finding that 4 in 10 people say that they don’t know enough about the law’s provisions to have an opinion on them. At the same time, a July 2023 Data for Progress poll found that large numbers of Americans support provisions in the IRA when asked specifically about them, including tax credits for businesses that produce clean electricity, electric vehicles, and new clean energy technologies (69%); rebates up to $14,000 per household to improve home energy efficiency (71%); and ramping up production of American-made clean energy technologies (73%). And perhaps most significantly, support for these key IRA provisions has grown over time among all likely voters, especially Republican voters.
