Just take a stroll down a high street in any deprived area and you will see a proliferation of betting shops and slot machines😢
Nigel Farage’s comments show just how out of touch he is with the reality of gambling harms. 🎰

Leaders must take this seriously — which is why I’m calling to scrap the broken ‘aim to permit’ system.

We need a system that protects people over profit. 👇🏾

Nigel Farage downplays problem gambling and says gambling industry shouldn’t face higher taxes
"Gambling has social harms attached to it. It preys on vulnerable people, so they absolutely should be paying more."

The Patriotic Millionaires have got the right idea.👍
We're in Newcastle with PMUK's Ian Gregg - former chairman of Greggs.
Speaking in a personal capacity, he said: "We hope the Chancellor uses this Budget to raise taxes on the wealthiest people first - who can most afford it - instead of ordinary people who can’t."

Teaching to test has been a by-product of Gove's 'reforms' and something I do not miss since leaving the classroom. Now my job is to support the mental health of A Level students who have suffered the negative effects of an unforgiving education system alongside austerity. The impact is shocking.

All schools are already invested in raising attendance. Why not focus on proven strategies to help them succeed and fund schools properly to address absence caused by a lack of SEND, behavioural & mental health support? A more engaging curriculum and less emphasis on target grades would help too.

I'm not sure if others have noticed this, but interesting that one of the Prescott criticisms of the BBC is based on those of the 'History Reclaimed' group, which is also associated with the 'Restore Trust' group's attacks on & so far unsuccessful attempts to take control of the National Trust. 1/3

The right-wing press are terrified of @zackpolanski.bsky.social because he is the first UK politician who doesn’t give a toss for their endorsement and thus can’t be corrupted by them. Worse, he actually revels in their lame attacks. 👏👏👏
Why won't someone think about the poor billionaires????

And the newspapers they own!

So, two American tourists in the UK assaulted and pepper-sprayed a British family (or at least UK-resident family). What would the Farage crowd be doing if this couple had been from the "small boats"? Not a peep from them this time. Throw them in the slammer, then deport, then lifetime entry ban.

Profits before people in the private sector? Colour me shocked🤨
7,261 elderly/vulnerable people in care homes given ‘notice to quit’.

Major reason: "revenge evictions’. people “threatened with eviction as a result of raising a complaint"

Care homes are mostly in the private sector, owned by corporations and private equity, profit margins of up to 40%.
Revealed: Thousands of elderly people evicted from care homes every year
Thousands of elderly and vulnerable people have received eviction notices from their care homes in the last year, the Big Issue has found.

But Trump, the felon, is a danger, spreading hate and poverty, threatening other countries, sending troops to US cities; ignoring laws and treaties and climate change.
