This is why I want the "Covid-cautious community" to stop sharing posts from the likes of Taylor Lorenz etc. that claim vaccines have no effect on transmission. You just discourage more people from vaccinating and create a self-fulfilling prophecy. Instead, encourage folks to vaccinate *regularly*.

Yes the framing used seems overly negative against vaccines. A recent paper showed even better protection than that, for LP.8.1 vaccines against XFG etc.

I'm also still masking in all indoor public spaces. This includes Airbnbs where the owner gives us a tour (unwanted!) of the place. Some get miffed that we view them as sources of potential contagion. Our desire to avoid illness (not only Covid but everything) overrides our desire to not offend.
I have family & friends who think I’m “over the top” about Covid & it’s time to move on. I’m not perfect in how I manage viruses, but I know a f*ck ton more than I used to & I wouldn’t step a foot in some places w/o a mask. I get eye rolled at all the time. I don’t GAF. It’s dangerous out there.

👇👇👇 Why I've been getting 3 vaccines a year, each year, and trying to diversify my exposures as much as possible (e.g. JN.1, KP.2 and most recently LP.8.1). The fact that Covid vaccines aren't near-perfect (the way a measles vax is) is *precisely* why staying regularly updated is so important.
Due to antigenic imprinting (also called "original antigenic sin", or OAS) the antibody response is slow to turn, but turn it will, with enough repeated, UPDATED vaccinations.

Our winter crop of greens is coming along well here in Burgundy 🇫🇷. I've always been fascinated by 4-season gardening using unheated greenhouses and crop covers, but it was nigh-on impossible in Dec, Jan, & Feb in SK. Often in Nov & Mar as well. However, we experimented a lot. Here, it's a breeze.

Seeing the usual Novavax vs mRNA vaccine discussions pop up on my feed. A reminder that it's a very apples-to-oranges comparison this year because Novavax hasn't been updated (JN.1) and mRNA vaccines have (LP.8.1). I switched back to Moderna for this reason. Got a couple of Novavax JN.1 last year.
They assert that maintaining immunity vs the "main branch" should suffice to protect us vs current variants.
I can possibly see this for a KP2 vax, but JN.1 lacks the FLiRT mutations, which isn't a good thing...sorry Novavax fans...plus the arguments above apply; avoid the race!
