How many people were killed by the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
The only instances of atomic weapons being used against a civilian population occurred in 1945 at the tail end of World War II. On August 6, 1945, “Little Boy” was detonated above the Japanese city…

If you use NUKEMAP regularly (you know who you are) I hope you notice that it starts up faster now, and the starting location is more likely to be "the biggest city near where you are." I updated the underlying database that determines where to start it and it is much faster than it was before.

📌 ICYMI, @nukestrat.bsky.social, @mattkorda.bsky.social, @mknight.bsky.social, and I just released a pretty cool report on the targeting strategies of nuclear-armed states.

Check it out!
🆕 Planning for the Unthinkable: the targeting strategies of nuclear-armed states

Intense secrecy around nuclear targeting means that most individuals—including lawmakers—do not have much understanding of how fateful decisions about what to target during wartime are made.

IF highly enriched uranium was stored in the tunnels, it almost certainly survived. The tunnels were too deep to be MOPed. If the U.S. attacked their entrances, those attacks weren't effective.

Well done to @armscontrolwonk.bsky.social on this find. (2/2)

This outcome=Fordow, Natanz, Isfahan blown up BUT HEU & centrifuge components survived; no IAEA inspections; no commitment not to rebuild.

It’s good to be reminded of some basic constitutional principles. This is so true but definitely not something this administration would do.
If the administration wants to join the attack against Iran, it should make its case to Congress and request an AUMF. There is no imminent threat of the kind that would justify bypassing Congress.
The tanker movements, the tweets, now this… I don’t know if Trump has made the decision to go to war against Iran, but I am increasingly concerned.
