In Ireland, there are 122 landlords with 101+ tenancies. A further 130 with 50-101 tenancies. There is quite literally no need for anyone to own that much property.

#OnThisDay 24th of November 1982, Nan Joyce became the first Traveller to stand in an Irish election.

Joyce was co-chairperson of the Committee for the Rights of Travellers, which had been formed earlier that year.

On this day in 1995, Ireland narrowly voted to end its 70-year constitutional ban on divorce, with 50.28% in favour and 49.72% against. The referendum's close result, decided by a margin of just over 9,000 votes, reflected deep societal divisions on the issue.

Gaza is one of the richest archaeological landscapes on the planet, with thousands of years of continuous occupation and layer after layer of history going back to the Neolithic. The destruction of that is nothing next to the human cost, but it's still a cruel, thoughtless act of destruction.
