Spot on points. - and similarly in Ireland years of failed housing policies do not ‘create conditions in which racism is acceptable or in any way explicable’

Was the Department of Justice using experimental chatbots to give immigration advice?
“The public should not be used as guinea pigs, particularly vulnerable groups in a legal process which could be impacted by a chatbot giving an incorrect answer.”

Very important thread, particularly for liberal journalists and politicians, caught in the far-right gaze… also in Western Europe, where data are similar.

This is not necessarily to say that “social justice” has high salience for youth, but they will definitely not appreciate reactionary centrism.
Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧵

79% of homes sold in Dublin this year were bought by landlords, 75% by large landlords. About 1 in 5 TDs are landlords.

This is disgusting dog whistling. The problem has never been people seeking asylum. The problem is people seeking to endlessly profit from folks just looking for a home.
🗣️ "The one thing that there is a problem with is housing right across the state, and the more that come to seek asylum, the more pressure it puts on that system.” - Fianna Fáil Minister of State Timmy Dooley

Excellent work.
There's been a great deal of debate about how safe Dublin city centre is, but when we @dublininquirer.com looked for data to resolve this, we couldn't find much useful – so we commissioned a survey to try to add some facts/data to the debate. Today we've published five articles about the results. 1/

Journalists, politicians, pundits, please read! 👇
There are three things everyone should know about youth and far-right voting:

1: There is (averaged all European countries) no correlation between being young and voting for the far right.
@ipsosnl.bsky.social published an age breakdown of the results of the election polls regarding tomorrow's Dutch elections.

Young Dutch voters are leaning more towards the centre-left (D66, PvdA-GL, PvdD, Volt), and are less likely to vote for both the far-right and the center-right.

This claim about the EU by our government is a lie.

Homelessness has been effectively eliminated in Finland. There are 1000 long-term homeless people left in the entire nation of 5 million people and the Finnish government aims to reduce that to zero within two years.

Simon Harris said this week that 80% of asylum applicants fail, but as Mick Clifford points out here, that is a highly selective figure cherry picked with a very obvious agenda.

Tánaiste saying that 80% of asylum seekers are refused - just not true. When you take the independent appeals into account, about 50% of people are granted status in Ireland. He wants a "conversation" about migration, but he's starting it off with an outright lie.

Lesson for govt and all ppl parties here .

‘There is an expansive literature on the causes of the rise of populism. Its lesson? Policies designed to appease populism are unlikely to be effective. That battle can only be won through argument.’
Does the rise of populism have economic roots, and more protectionist and anti-immigration policies help? Quick thread on my latest piece here
