Anyone know if there's work in the CA legislature on providing direct funds for the 2050 CA State Rail Plan? Or is it just expected to get funding through Caltrans?

Only in Sacramento do you have a crowd this loud with a team that’s been so bad. We just want competitive basketball!

Really recommend this episode to understand how utterly dumb the current American energy policy is, but how positive the forecast is for solar specifically.
Today on Volts: the subset of cleantech known as "electrotech" -- solar, batteries, heat pumps, etc. -- is marching toward inevitable victory, not because it's low-emissions (though it is), but because it's more efficient & cheaper. I discuss the good news with @kingsmillbond.bsky.social.
Clean electrification is inevitable
Kingsmill Bond explains why the global march of "electrotech" has moved beyond the reach of US political interference.

One more thing to add with this is the projected 40-year tax revenue generation:

1/4 cent = $5 billion
1/2 cent = $10 bill
*1 cent = $20 bill

*Not under consideration by this measure, but I wish it was. If it were, this measure would provide ~$500 million extra to SacRT every year for 40 years!
For reference, the tax plan they are preparing for is 1/2 cent measure. LA's Measure M was for a full cent measure.

I really wish Sac was going for the full cent. I think the 1/2 cent will go a long way in making public transit more viable across the region, but a full cent would be transformative.
SacRT is currently creating their long/short-term plans for the region based on a measure that will be on the ballot in 2026 for a 1/4 cent or 1/2 cent sales tax.

Here's their presentation on what they are looking at:

Can we get this started in Sacramento?

There are so many unused/underused parking lots across the city.
Spokane City Council is seeking support from #waleg for creation of a local pilot program testing a land value tax.

Our state's current tax system disincentivizes redevelopment. It's why so many Downtown Spokane properties sit empty as parking lots.

Let's get this done! 🙏
Spokane City Council explores land value tax model to promote community growth
SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Spokane City Council is looking to spur growth in the community by exploring moving away from property taxes and adopting a land value tax model instead.

The Kings are the worst offense and second worst defense with the 5th oldest roster and the 2nd highest average age by minutes.

We're old and bad and play our old-bad players a lot.

Blow it up.

I want to talk about how this corrosive view of automobility and cities relates to decades of failure on transit policy.
One thing that’s so frustrating living in a city center is the pervasive belief among suburbanites that your neighborhood is nothing more than a consumer experience for them and that the city should bend over backwards to ensure they can speed as fast as possible on their way to buy treats in it.

Dems need to be talking about how "clean energy is the cheapest form of energy" at every chance they have and that they are also the only ones willing to build it.
Absolutely amazing: they've got so much solar in Australia that they need more people to use more of it, so the gov't has instructed energy retailers to offer *at least three hours of free power* during the middle of the day.

Meanwhile fossil-addled US struggles with an energy-price crisis ...
Energy retailers to be directed to offer free power three hours a day
Saying there is enough solar power for everyone in the daytime, Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen will direct retailers to provide three hours of free power every day to consumers.

And Man U comes right back and takes the lead back on a header from Maguire

Liverpool finally evens it up on a scrambled play that somehow ends up on Gakpo's foot

Salah with his best chance yet and just shanks it
October 19, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Man, another strike off the post for Gakpo
October 19, 2025 at 4:41 PM
Another great through ball this time to Isak, but Lammens comes up with the foot save.

Liverpool has dominated possession since the first goal but can't put it away.

What a pass and shot from Liverpool. Off the side post.
October 19, 2025 at 3:52 PM
Liverpool maybe got like 2 touches on the ball before Man U scores?

Wild start
October 19, 2025 at 3:33 PM
This is the way.
Michelle Wu’s address at No Kings was basically “We are actually awesome, cities like this and LA and Chicago are what make America great and that bothers some people” lol

Nique got blocked on that dunk attempt but I like that he went for it

Idk how you're supposed to watch a basketball game that shows only half of the game lol

This is insane
Every Kings possession is a chance to show a Blazers replay.
