Never forget this: The forces rigging our economy, undermining our democracy, polluting our planet, and stoking hatred are counting on you to give up. Cynicism is how they win. Stay clear-eyed and ready for the fight ahead.

Grateful as well. Not happy about the Nexstar/TEGNA agreement.
Grateful for 18 years of days well-spent at 9NEWS. Grateful to do it again tomorrow.

Just a year ago, the U.S. was better at predicting storms’ tracks than it had ever been. But now, @zoeschlanger.bsky.social reports, the country is rapidly losing state-of-the-art forecasting, just in time for hurricane season’s busiest months:
Hurricane Science Was Great While It Lasted
The U.S. is hacking away at support for state-of-the-art forecasting.

COMMENTARY: It takes a great country to admit its mistakes. The Trump administration's new signs at Colorado's National Historic Sites reflect weakness and insecurity.

No one is better at explaining things than @petebuttigieg.bsky.social. Wishing you all a wonderful and MEANINGFUL Juneteenth! 🖤
Juneteenth calls us to understand the realities of our past, celebrate the resilience and achievements of Black Americans, and align the course of our country toward its founding creed of liberty and justice for all. Wishing everyone a meaningful Juneteenth!

One thing the MAHA report is seriously missing: connection to reality. You can’t tackle chronic illness while gutting the workforce that prevents it. Health departments hollowed out, $11b of directed federal support pulled, 20k jobs at health agencies eliminated.

Deep cuts erode the foundations of US public health system, end progress, threaten worse to come

Freedom has a price. And it is paid by the Americans who give their lives in pursuit of protecting this exceptional nation. Memorial Day is our chance to recommit ourselves to wrapping our arms around the families of the fallen and our veteran community. We owe them everything.

This and every Memorial Day I remember Cpl Joe Baldonado, KIA in Korea. He was born in Colorado to a family of migrant workers and enlisted without a hometown. His heroism was posthumously honored with the MOH in 2014. www.9news.com/article/news...

To be fair, they *are* influencing health in 2025...kind of like how Spanish Influenza influenced health in 1918 or the Black Death influenced health in the 14th century.

The Trump administration is rushing to bring the first group of white South Africans classified as refugees to the U.S. early next week. Meanwhile, they’re trying to deport other refugees already here. Make it make sense. Oh wait, Elon’s homeland. Got it.

RFK claims “70% of pharmaceutical products in the world are sold to our country” but this is a false misrepresentation.

His 70% number is exaggerated and is based on sale $ not number of products sold, which ignores the fact that USA pays more for prescriptions than other places in the world

Sorry, we promised not to post much today but we had to make a special callout. We forgot to give a proper shoutout to a few places yesterday. Denver and Dallas Fort Worth, you broke records. You were incredible.

Great rally!!!!! So glad to be a part of it!
Tonight an unbelievable **34,000 people** gathered for our Denver rally to take on billionaires and win our country back.

This was the largest political gathering in Denver since Obama in 2008.

Also bigger than the 2024 DNC.

And the largest ever rally in Bernie’s career (and obviously, mine too).

If the 17 states named in Texas v. Becerra prevail, and Section 504 is ruled unconstitutional, then individual states would be freed from their legal obligation to provide 504 Plan accommodations and protection from discrimination for students with disabilities.
Your Child’s 504 Plan May Be in Peril
If it succeeds, a lawsuit in Texas could end 504 Plans for 8.5 million public school students across the country. Here’s what you need to know.

As a journalist who covers extremism at the local level, I think it’s a mistake to view Trump’s Napoleonic statement as solely about presidential power. Consider if it’s interpreted as a wink and a nod for any extremist to act outside the law to “save” the country as they see fit
