I made a healthy Christian Spirituality Starter Pack. It’s too short and not as diverse as my follows elsewhere, but it’s a place to start. God knows we need an alternative to the toxic stuff corrupted by politics, racism, and misogyny.

They might be making Trump mad, but Newsom has been throwing these at the press -- if you think these are beneath my office, why don't you say that when the president does the same thing?

He's exposing that the media has a separate set of standards for Our Very Special Boy and that's good.
I don’t know that these tweets from Newsom’s press office are actually accomplishing anything, but this one nearly made me spit out my coffee (literally).

This has been on my mind for years. I think I finally have a simple way to share my observations about how we tend to go through church conflict. I'm curious if my explanations match anyone else's experience.

[Musk and Trump are] "firing staff, they're cutting services. They're making it harder to get a real person on the phone.

They're telling them to show up at the office. When they get to the office, they're telling them to go online.

This is cutting Social Security." -

The most important tool that Democrats have right now, in the minority, is communications. The microphone and platforms are just sitting there, and they're up for grabs.

Booker showed he's in the 10% of Democrats who seem to understand that.
yall we can’t collectively screech that “no one’s doing anything!” and then say “no not like that” when someone actually does something.

is Booker’s filibuster gonna save the world? of course not. but since courage begets courage it could lead to more. I’m fucking cynical as hell but come on.

When historians look back on this period the thing that will puzzle them most might be how little American law firms, universities, media, etc, really cared about defending free expression when presented with the most obvious opportunities to do so.

This isn't anti-DEI - it's retelling history as a story with only white men in it. The tale of the Navajo Code Talkers is essential to understanding the Allies' victory in WWII. Removing it because the people involved were non-white is segregationism.

Donald Trump has disgraced the United States of America in countless ways since he first entered political life ten years ago.

But he had never disgraced the nation as badly as he did today.

He has brought shame on this country to an extent I had never thought possible. And he has only just begun.

Things our College DEI office did:

-hosted meals around major holidays so international students could enjoy company and experience American holiday foods

-hosted a "hackathon" for students to "design for neurodiversity in a neurotypical world"

Things it didn't do:

-tell faculty to do anything
"DEI on campus ... was starting to act like many faculty members' direct supervisor and telling them how and what to teach"

I'm sorry, what?

I've never experienced this myself and I've never heard another faculty member anywhere ever complain about anything remotely like this.
I know it's a right-wing, anti-DEI talking point, but do regular people think this? That DEI offices were auditing faculty syllabi and ordering them what to teach? Maybe I'm naive, but that level of detailed attention and oversight sounds far-fetched to me from any higher ed admin unit.

It's the *anti-DEI* drive now that has outsiders acting "like many faculty members' direct supervisor and telling them how and what to teach."

DEI officials never reviewed syllabi or challenged course titles or targeted entire fields of scholarship. That's what the anti-DEI forces do.
