I published two stories today. It was a great honor to work with Afeef Nessouli on the one documenting the genocide and famine in Gaza. Afeef spent 9-weeks there, and we tracked how the U.S. dismantling USAID & UNRWA has made getting food deadly for kids, men, women, queer & trans Palestinians

We've moved from 'don't say gay' to 'ban trans'. But this time, it's the policy of a 'Labour' Government.
🆕🚨 New statutory Relationships and Sex Education guidance published today will:

- Restrict schools from using materials that "encourage pupils to question their gender"
- Teaches children the laws about "biological sex"
- Removes all references to the word transgender

What we know so far 🧵

This takes 5 minutes. As a cis bisexual woman, I feel personally affected by this attack on trans people because I am frightened for people I love, and for my own rights when the people who did this smell blood in the water.

A couple of years ago, I started posting that women’s bodily autonomy in the UK was coming under attack whilst feminists were being distracted by transphobes’ bullshit.

And here we are. Here we fucking are. The police issuing guidance on how to bypass the law to get hold of information.
"Police have been issued guidance on how to search women’s homes for abortion drugs and check their phones for menstrual cycle tracking apps after unexpected pregnancy loss"

"...police could bypass legal requirements for a court order to obtain medical records..."

"We cannot concede to the anti-migrant agenda promoted by those who thrive on division."

The PM’s "island of strangers" remarks yesterday were shameful scapegoating. It’s dangerous rhetoric that risks fuelling hate & setting a deeply troubling precedent.

Why does ‘protecting women’ never look like harsher punishments for rape, assault and femicide that almost exclusively happens at the hand of cis men? Why isn’t it free sanitary products? Why not more money into the NHS to help sick women? Why is it always an attack on our most vulnerable sisters?

“You see articles about factory closures when 100 people lose their jobs, and it makes national news. It’s 40 times worse for the film and TV industry right now and nobody seems to notice.”

I’ve been screaming about this for a year now. Do we just let the UK TV industry die? 🤷‍♂️
“It really is not getting better, it is dying." The astounding lack of solidarity and action from the biggest names in UK TV to this existential crisis for thousands of their friends and colleagues is a searing indictment. 'I'm alright, Jack', is it?
