To be clear (since NPR isn't), the "joke" is premised on the fact that Trump is kidnapping people w/o due process and shipping them to offshore concentration slave camps in defiance of court orders, human rights accordances, the U.S. constitution, all tenets of common decency, and international law.

I won't say who, (though it's not hard to guess, admittedly) but when I was working on something to try and cover the C;H stuff before the ban got reversed, at least one PC-specific publisher told me they hesitated to talk about banned projects because they didn't want a target on their back.
Spike Chunsoft is a relatively large publisher/developer, so Valve budged. That’s not the case with this and other smaller developers, so they feel they have effectively no reason to change their minds, or allow a resubmission on good faith. The only thing transparent is their disdain.

Santa Ragione spoke up, but how many more won't because of this exact problem? If you're a primarily PC developer, Steam *is* your lifeblood. Steam might be great for consumers but they are absolutely, 100% a monopoly and it isn't healthy that their competitors are not viable.

Unlike with Spike Chunsoft, I guess they decided this team had no leverage…

i think tech and ai positive people are going to be in for a big shock when anti tech and anti ai sentiment becomes a major part of leftwing politics going forward especially as datacenters continue to destroy communities and raise electricity bills
Is this platform still massively against AI or has it moved more towards acceptance?

sometimes porn games are allowed to be there. sometimes they aren't. (esp if they're from asia 🙃)

sometimes a game is deemed porn when it isn't. (esp if they're queer 🙃)

sometimes a game is allowed, and makes it all the way to the point where people can buy it. then all of a sudden, it isn't!!!

you have no control over who gets to stamp Yay or Nay on you. you get a single shot. if you don't think it's fair? sorry, ""valve"" has made its decision and it's final

the thing you have to know about working with valve is that, in practice, "flat leadership" means "whether your game gets to go on the store OR is permanently and irrevocably dragged behind the shed and shot is entirely up to the individual moral values of the SINGLE person reviewing it"
love living under a hays code/comics code authority except it's in some ways worse, because it's not actually codified anywhere and it's enforced opaquely on purpose to avoid accountability at every stage
Our upcoming game HORSES was preemptively banned from Steam, with no path to appeal. The game will still launch next week on December 2nd and will be available on EGS, GOG, Humble, and Itch for $4.99. Here is a detailed FAQ covering what happened: horses.wtf/BannedFromSt...

It’s almost like Steam definitively has a monopoly on PC gaming and that it’s not “good actually” just because you have a parasocial relationship with a company and/or marketplace 🤔

Woah!

Ontario passed a law starting Jan 2026 that it is illegal for companies to ghost you.

If you have interviewed for a job they are legally required to inform you if they hire someone else or close the position.

The law also requires salary transparency on listings and disclosing use of AI

Some people might be upset by this, but it’s worth putting into perspective what games were out before he started working in the industry, and what working in the industry will do to your drive to spend even your free time on it. I personally disagree, but I don’t think this is anything crazy
