Hey, is it still #folktaleweek 2025? No. Sigh. I'm still going to work through the remaining prompts because I'm learning a ton and enjoying the process very much.

This image is for CHARM. (Included the 2nd to show how it repeats on the horizontal.)

When my partner saw my previous #kidlitartpostcard he challenged me to make a forward-facing version. So here it is!

I love illustrating busy scenes, vibrant colours and silly animals ❤️

Disappointed to see that in an otherwise cogent and interesting vid the speaker trots out the concept of the "angry vegan"

-Shrill feminist
-Annoying SJW
-Angry Vegan

These are all silencing tactics used to try to convince someone "you're embarrassing for getting upset about harm to others."
This is actually quite brilliant, up to and including the final sentence 🔥

I've been taking this great art class from @yumingart.bsky.social that goes over so many fantastic composition concepts including the idea of "checkerboarding" or placing light shapes on a dark bg and vice versa. And I can't stop noticing examples of it now including this gorgeous sky of clouds!

1/3 Massive efforts are being done to ensure states do not regulate GenAI.

Regulations like CA’s AB-412. A transparency bill that terrifies Big Tech!

On Dec. 8th, there is a major hearing on this bill.

We need as many folks to show up! Come join in support of creatives!

Yeaahhh I think we're all biased towards thinking the art we grew up with was the best, but I am at least very grateful that publishing seems to have given up on the stock photo phase of the 2000s

Because tell me which of these you were more likely to open as a kid??

Sighhh I really love teaching but I do NOT miss commuting to universities. I think my dream job would be teaching/mentoring online from an illustrator-art director perspective.

I'm really inspired by people like @chuwenjie.bsky.social who run their own very successful classes!

Woah!

Ontario passed a law starting Jan 2026 that it is illegal for companies to ghost you.

If you have interviewed for a job they are legally required to inform you if they hire someone else or close the position.

The law also requires salary transparency on listings and disclosing use of AI

Remember, "sales" online especially around Black Friday are just made to look like big discounts after they artificially jacked up the price a few days beforehand.

You can often check the item's price history to see if it's actually a reduced price

I was in college for UX and had to drop out because of chronic illness. I started teaching myself photoshop from youtube tutorials for fun because that was something I could do without needing to get out of bed.

I love how quickly I can finish a piece when I work with these big soft brushes. This took about 1.5 hours and that's close to the limit of how long I enjoy working in one sitting. It's not perfectly polished and detailed but it's good enough for me!

I genuinely have no idea why people rake or leaf blow their lawns in fall? Leaves insulate the lawn against cold, fertilize the as they break down and can just be mowed over in the spring!

Is this just a cultural thing I missed the memo on?!

NEW: Common Crawl, the massive archiver of the web, has gotten cozy with AI companies and is providing paywalled articles for training data. They’re also lying to publishers who have asked for material to be removed. “The robots are people too,” CC’s exec director told us when we asked about this.

Common Crawl claims to provide a public benefit, but it lies to publishers about its activities.
