“Nothing in the world can be compared to the human face. It is a land one can never tire of exploring. There is no greater experience…than to witness the expression of a sensitive face under the mysterious power of inspiration. To see it animated from inside, and turning into poetry.”

The White House Antifa Roundtable is one of the best displays I’ve seen of this-is-how-bad-it’s-gotten — just a sewer of open fascism, dementia, morons and freaks, and incoherent rage.

It is also why Hitlers plans.for "Germania" in place of Berlin, and the current Trump administration's plans for "beautiful" Public buildings is doomed to fail - they seek to create the veneer of a past, while at the same time denying the weight of the realities of that past.

Google “Rosemary Kennedy” and you may understand why he never heard of any of these conditions as a child.
RFK JR: ADD, ADHD, Tourette syndrome, Narcolepsy, Autism.. All of these are injuries that I never heard of when I was a kid.

Notice how this is materially different than “people find my opinions distasteful” and how little urgency and alarm around free speech under conservative rule.
The fear among academics and lawyers now talking on the record on just about any topic that involves the federal government or the White House is really extraordinary and worrisome, and getting worse, it seems to me, every week. Dissent by an establishment figures becoming verboten in the US

I will never forget the photo of Zelenskyy’s face after he saw Russia’s war crimes in Bucha in 2022. He seemed to age years in an afternoon. Watching him constantly cross the world asking for aid that should have been thrown at him is one of the deepest shames of our age.

Not just the highly educated. Welsh miners formed study groups to read Austen and Dickens. Scottish shepherds built lending libraries. Watchmakers & cabinetmakers taught themselves Greek and Latin. The loss of working-class autodidact culture is one of history's great tragedies.

Trump: Trade war!

Colombia: OK

Trump: Fine, no more shackled detainees returned on military flights

Colombia: Good. Was that so hard?

Trump: They gave in!

Really interesting read on how college became devalued once women became the majority of students.
Why aren't we talking about the real reason male college enrollment is dropping?
We would rather talk about literally everything else.
