"Malort advent calendar" is already such an unhinged concept but every little window just having Malort in it really pushes it over the edge into something transcendently funny

Wow, this was a shock! A real talent.
RIP to anime director Tatsuya Nagamine. One of the finest adventure anime directors of the modern era. He helped breath new life into long-running series and made them feel altogether vital again. The current One Piece boom wouldn't have been possible in the same way without him.

this cop wanted a shuppet, who is attracted to negative emotion, so he could use it to find people before they commit crimes. first thing it did was go to his wife who reluctantly revealed she’s resentful of how much he works and is never home.

it’s a fucking yakuza substory.

Revisited Hail, Caesar!, a Coen Bros movie I have always loved, but retain the same complimentary takeaway: this really should’ve been a tv show!!

the memory of tom arnold explaining this on conan is seared into my brain bc it was when it really clicked for me how much being famous sucks and how it's only tolerable if you're rich as well
My favorite story related to Oven Mitt was that Tom Arnold, who voiced the character, was given a Free Arby’s for Life card, but is often denied because nobody at Arby’s knows what it is.
Fun fact: The promotion for the launch of this sandwich was also the introduction of Arby's classic 2000's-era oven mitt mascot, whose name was...Oven Mitt.

A lot of people are expressing surprise at this. Leonard's name was actually revealed to the general public when he was required by law to introduce himself to his neighbors as a registered sex offender.
THEY HAVE NAMES?!?

If you ask me Bond writers should instead be focused on introducing a character named Plenty O'Honks

My trailer for a nostalgia-drenched, unfunny family-focused Austin Powers reboot, ala Ghostbusters: faint orchestral rendition of that bossa nova song. A kid wearing the glasses discovering a dusty Swedish penis pump in an attic. Liz Hurley in old lady makeup saying "Your grandpa..was very horny.."

this scene, imo, makes slightly more sense when you remember that there is like. Absolutely no chance you can get a decent baguette in Twin Peaks. I live in the PNW if you're lucky theres a fancy grocery store 2 hours away with the good bread from the place an hour away from THEM.
Twin Peaks: Ben Horne with a baguette.

RIP Tatsuya Nakadai

One of the best to ever do it. An expert at being a wild-eyed, haunted weirdo.

Pixar designed Toy Story to be printed on physical film. The Disney renaissance movies were the same.

Today, it's hard to see them as they were meant to be seen. The versions on streaming and home media aren't quite the same films that ruled the '90s:

Had a fun time talking about the God Valley flashback sticking the landing before my son reenacted the puking scene from Stand By Me
