Really annoyed by the proliferation of accounts on here habitually not using alt text, including institutional and political accounts that really should be. It’s so easy to do - if you care about accessibility, please use alt text when posting images.

I'm no longer employed at the small, local charity I've been running for years. But nobody seems to have told my nervous system that, because I still have the usual Sunday Scaries.* FFS.

*Spending hours at about 60-70% of a fight or flight response.

At the end of the day, don’t we all just want to read books in front of a crackling fire in a Scottish Highlands cottage during a raging snowstorm whilst enjoying a plate of chocolate croissants?

The best description of the Telegraph you'll read this week.
I just don't need to know what the Telegraph has written about Dungeons & Dragons. It's a newspaper for people who are frightened of samosas.

Something ancient and wonderful for the weekend! 🤩

The world’s oldest known sculpture of a horse!

This tiny figurine was carved from mammoth ivory by an Ice Age artist some 40,000 years ago!

Through his life and extraordinary talent, the immigrant and refugee child Tomáš Sträussler who became known to us all as Tom Stoppard made British theatre and this country a better place to be.

You might even argue that he helped redefine Englishness through his astonishing legacy of work.

I don’t know a lot.

But I know a lot about dinosaurs.

Now we all know dinosaurs lived for millions of years right?

But does you mind actually wrap around how long they dominated for?

Lets get a little perspective.

Did you know Allosaurus never saw flowers but T.rex did?

Ok folks, I've got a task I need help with.

I need to know about high money value detector finds found since 2019 (not including tudor heart or Chew Valley hoard) from news reports, social media posts etc.

England & Wales only.

Please share, thank you 😊

L & I have started watching #DoctorWho again from the beginning of the modern series, & the 16yo has joined in. He's never seen it before & was vocally offended at the change from 9 to 10 (though after 2 episodes he's noticeably happier about it!).

I read one fiction and one non-fiction at a time, but I also listen to a #Discworld audiobook. 🤷🏻‍♀️
what do you MEAN y’all only read one book at a time
Left the novel I'm in the middle of at a friend's house... Which is a problem because today is a "snuggle up in bed early with a hot water bottle and a good book" evening. So I'm doing an extremely risky thing and... Starting to read... Another book... Despite being halfway through one already.

The Diderot Effect is when, after buying something, you feel pressured to buy more things to match it. The name comes from an 18th century essay by Denis Diderot, lamenting that a new red velvet robe led him to replace his furniture.

My nephew: Are you a girl or a boy?
Me: a boy, I used to look more like a girl but then I turned into a boy
Nephew: How???
Me: I went to the doctor and they gave me some medicine
Nephew: …
Nephew, bragging now: I’M a boy and I didn’t even HAVE to go to the doctor

"So, intelligent. Why?"

I've also just learned this. Though thankfully I'm a fair bit younger than a 1,950 year old palace!
We were today years old when we learned there's a Lock button on SD cards. 😳🤯

I paused, out of breath. The Void had taken all my frustrated screaming and absorbed it.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. "You must have heard all this before, countless times."

'only you,' said the Void, 'scream your frustration like you do'

I took a deep breath to resume, then smiled.

"Thanks."
