Brooke Rollins: "Eggs are down. Really everything is coming down. But listen, we're not tone deaf. We know that a lot of Americans are like, 'Well, we're still not feeling the relief.' The relief is coming ... it really is a golden age just right around the corner."

we are returning to the state in which the framers intended for the legislature, in which the lower chamber and the upper chamber absolutely despise one another
The House has voted unanimously to repeal the provisions in the shutdown package which allow GOP Senators to sue the federal government and get as much as $1 million in damages - because the feds looked at their phone records in the Jan. 6 investigation.

JD Vance's speech on the Big Ugly Bill was insulting in its dishonesty and malevolent bad faith. On the pod @michaelslinden.bsky.social brutally takes it apart. Key point: Vance cannot paper over the core truth that it's a huge upward redistribution of wealth:

JD Vance’s Scamming of Trump Voters Takes Ugly Turn in Vile New Rants
As Vance defends Trump’s big, ugly bill with lies and demagoguery, an economist and Democratic strategist explains how badly the bill shafts Trump voters—and how Democrats can make the GOP pay for it.

Yes.

Neither of these frightened, overcompentating weaklings think women should have the right to vote or pretty much anything else without their husband's or father's permission.
Because nothing says “you should feel free to come visit Washington” like standing in front of dozens of armed soldiers next to a guy who thinks women shouldn’t be able to vote 🙃

This Empire Strikes Back fascist energy isn't going to play well in the United States. This isn't 1930's Europe. Yes, some non-insignificant percentage of Americans wants this, but the vast majority of us do not. We are repelled by it. And repelled by Stephen Miller.
Stephen Miller: "All these demonstrators that you've seen out here in recent days, all these elderly white hippies, they're not part of the city and never have been ... we're gonna ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old."

One of the biggest conservative complaint against reform prosecutors has been that they choose to not prosecute certain felonies — DeSantis literally removed an elected prosecutor from office for saying he wouldn’t prosecute abortion offenses.
“Federal prosecutors in D.C. have been instructed not to seek felony charges against people who are carrying rifles or shotguns in [DC], regardless of the strength of the evidence, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro and an email reviewed by [WaPo].” www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...
Pirro’s office won’t pursue gun charges over carrying rifles, shotguns
A statement from Pirro on Tuesday said D.C.’s blanket prohibition on carrying shotguns or rifles “is clearly a violation of the Supreme Court’s holdings.”

The language of an abuser.
"I don't want to hurt you, stop fighting back, you're hurting yourself" is literally the language of an abuser.

One of the most banally horrifying things about this administration is that there is no subtext, no dog whistles, no need for interpretive work. It's all just explicit racism and cruelty.
