When I worked @dundee.ac.uk in 2013 they already had a super simple system. I don't understand how @ucddublin.bsky.social could screw it up so much. The irony would be the person(s) responsible for the mess get promoted.
A system whose unintelligibility is only matched by its failure to perform the most basic functions in a reliable way. #workdayfinancial
Imagine the least user-friendly financial software you can. Then make it more complicated. Then add a bunch of mistakes. Then make it so you have to swim through a lake full of hungry piranhas to do a simple task like figure out how much budget you have in a project. The result: Workday Financial.

At the same time smart phones are multifunctional tools & their appropriate usage must be learned not banned. Still, thinking about a full ban in my own seminars, in lectures it is harder to spot.
