NEW: Epstein survivors release the most powerful PSA I have ever seen.

Make this go viral so every member of the House of Representatives sees it.

I just don’t see how we can pretend even for a moment that anything involving our federal government is remotely normal when the president is covering up his involvement in a child sex trafficking ring. Like, what are we doing here

Really difficult to overstate the fury one should feel that the GOP and institutions like the New York Times went all in on transphobia as some mortal threat to women and girls while covering up something like this.
When you read these Epstein emails, you start to understand why so many prominent conservatives are obsessed with checking the genitals of children. It's a big thing for them!

"This could take down Democrats, too."

I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office.

Down with the sex predators, wherever they are.

The crisis of elite impunity that is ruining our society cannot be more clearly or convincingly demonstrated than with the fact that all of these people wrote all this stuff into an email and hit Send.

Can we circle back to the part where the NY Times never disclosed that they have incriminating information on Donald Trump from sent by Epstein that's been sitting on their email servers for nearly a decade?
Stuff like this makes me wonder why there hasn't been any reporting about Trump having affairs during his presidencies

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Know this, @schumer.senate.gov — if you cave, we will not rest until you are primaried and wrested from your seat. When kids on SNAP aren’t being fed, we’re even more hungry for justice. New York has shown you the people’s power just days ago. You *could* join with us, still, and do the right thing.

'Feed the hungry' is one of the basic, fundamental, direct-order-from-Jesus, tenets of being a Christian, and it's not 'feed the hungry when it's politically expedient to do so or advances your wider agenda'.

You'd think the party full of people claiming to be guided by their faith would be on this
Donald Trump has asked his employees on the Supreme Court to overrule lower court orders demanding that he fulfill his duties to feed Americans who are due SNAP benefits

AND

He's demanding that states which just rushed to fill the vacuum created by his cruelty "undo" that work.
NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...

Trump is committing war crimes against Americans.

Brava: “If I don’t file a complaint, then what message does that send to all Mexican women?” Ms. Sheinbaum said at her daily news conference, noting sexual harassment was a crime… “If this can happen to the president, what’s going to happen to all the young women & women across our country?”

Tuesday was one of those days where I woke up early to work before heading to work, then worked all day with very few breaks and then came home to do....yep, more work. Teaching, class prep, grading, meetings, putting out fires, talking to students, emails, just a relentless stream of work. I shut my laptop after 10pm and headed straight for bed, knowing I'd need to be up at 5am to start the whole cycle over again. When I got in to work Wednesday morning, I sat down, opened my laptop to prep for the morning's meetings and outline my plan for my junior seminar (the class I didn't prep the day before)....and just couldn't.

It was a rejection of the entire administration and Dems should see this as a signal to become an actual opposition party. On everything. You don't stop the shutdown. You don't approve another appointee. You do nothing at all. The voters saved you, not the other way around. LEARN TO LEAD.
On a call with reporters, DNC chair Ken Martin responds to JD Vance claiming Dems only won big last night because races were in blue states.

"Well that's bullshit. We won in red counties, blue counties, purple counties," Martin says. And it was all "a rejection of Trump."

Part of what is going on here isn't just inflicting hunger, it's inflicting humiliation. Human beings should be able to feed themselves and their families with dignity.

The sadism is the point.
Here in Atlanta yesterday, more than 2,000 people waited in their cars—one woman for 14 hours—for a box of food. The giveaway ended early; there wasn't enough to go around.

Multiply this scene by countless others across the country, and you get a sense of how crushing the desperation is right now.

Donating food is great, but donating money is better if you can. That way they can purchase in bulk (cheaper that way), buy what is most needed, and save time sorting/ inspecting.

Preparing for an unusually busy period
Academic life often does not leave a lot of margin. We're overscheduled and overwhelmed much of the time, with way more to do than can be accomplished in a day, a week, or possibly even a lifetime. So when life happens, as it invariably does because we are humans and life doesn't adhere to the academic calendar, it means the jenga-like systems we put in place to manage life grow ever more precarious, threatening to topple with the slightest movement. I haven't blogged much in this space this term because, frankly, this term is kicking my butt.
