The US TikTok sale has been signed. The company will be controlled by a joint venture including Oracle, Silver Lake, Andreessen Horowitz, Abu Dhabi-based MGX. Adding a UAE company really makes it clear that this was never about national security concerns.

All mass shooters since and including Columbine have been captured by video surveillance. Not a single time did one of those cameras jump off the wall to stop the shooter. And they never will. Cameras do not stop violence.
Surveillance boosters and people who sell cameras are shameless in that any tragedy is an argument for more cameras. The actual number is irrelevant, rather it’s seen by them as an opportunity to increase the existing number until every square inch of the earth is blanketed.
Brown University has over 1,200 surveillance cameras. Why that wasn’t enough to capture video of the shooting suspect | CNN
CNN spoke to several security experts to better understand the growth of Brown’s surveillance system, why its cameras failed to capture the attack or suspect, and the concerns about privacy and academ...

“it’s reasonable to ask questions about trans girls in sports” was always intended to mainstream transphobia.

It’s absurd that people fell for it. Democrats are constantly letting oppressors set the terms of debate instead of just saying “no, fuck you.”

the brits should be so embarrassed by their transphobia, they got completely bamboozled by an American evangelical plot. they think they’re so much smarter than us but they got turned into a country of jug hooting bigots without even needing to be told it’s what God wants.

Joe Biden's whole brand as a Senator was taking the train between DC and Wilmington, DE. One of the biggest failures of his presidency was not getting a high-speed rail bill passed through Congress.
seriously though, there is very clearly pent up demand for rail options and every reason to build out as much new rail as possible.

this will be strictly worse than standard sketches because the realism will give a false sense of confidence but it is worth nothing that standard sketches are also very bad and extremely bias-reinforcing because they pull the likeness towards average and away from individual identifiability

Remember, kids, using people's preferred pronouns is "Marxism." Centralized control of the economy that leaves people increasingly dependent on cronyist government largesse is, apparently, good ol' free-market conservatism.

A massive problem today is the uneven distribution of shame. Some of us are running dedicated on-site shame servers 24/7 while others have no access to shame at all, even though they desperately need it. What we need to do is put shame in the cloud

Well, I mean.

I believe that, in the vast enormity of the universe, there likely exist things that we would describe as being ALIVE. So yeah, I suppose I believe in "aliens."

But then, I also believe we'll never meet any sentient or sapient ones. They're not in this solar system, so.
New polling on aliens
% of U.S. adult citizens who believe the following definitely or probably exist:
Aliens 56%
Bigfoot 28%
The Yeti 23%
The Loch Ness Monster 22%
