The UK's political and media class has spent years heaping sadism on trans people, and they want to do the same in Ireland next. Calls for civility and calm won't cut it. We need to fight them tooth and nail.

The poor provision of unisex children’s facilities— which reinforces gender stereotypes and inconveniences women and men both — was, incidentally, an issue I remember being quite talked-about a decade...

This was such a satisfying project, and one in which I realized for the first time how much my whole life had been spent in a manscape, in places where almost everything was named after men.
#WomensHistoryMonth: The City of Women Map is a fascinating visualization of women’s history and urban transportation. Created by Molly Roy, Rebecca Solnit, and Joshua Jelly-Schapiro, the map renames subway stops after notable women with links to that area, offering an entirely new way to view #NYC.

Elon Musk's mother moved to South Africa in the year Apartheid was created, and she and Elon left the year it ended. The last Apartheid Prime Minister, a man who refused to testify at the Truth and Reconciliation Committee, was a family friend who stayed at their home. This is not a crazy theory.

These wonderful buildings were funded and built by communities. We need a joined up approach with the state and religious communities to plan for new, appropriate re-use that is mindful of the past but continues to serve communities in new ways.

French cities with higher supply elasticity see lower price growth. This variation in supply elasticity is explained by variation in the restrictiveness of local land-use regulations.

I got a paper back from an academic publisher a week ago that had clearly been copy-edited by AI. It took three hours to unpick the issues it had caused and the errors it had introduced.

It's v exciting that we now have a product that increases my workload and that my university is mad for.

this is, de-facto, a total ban on gender-affirming care in the state of Ohio.

if all gender affirming care for every patient, adult or child, requires a psychiatrist, endocrinologist, and bioethicist, there will, quite simply, BE no gender-affirming care.
Breaking: Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) bans, by executive order, gender-affirming surgery for minors, effective immediately. The move followed last week's veto of a broader bill. He also announced two proposed rules that will apply to all care, including adults. substack.com/profile/2269...

This was ten weeks ago. I present it now without comment.
