Now *this* is a call to action. 😂
If you're enjoying Demonschool, please review it on your platform of choice! We would love to reach 500 reviews by the end of the month on Steam, especially. If we can achieve that goal we will put something very stupid into the game for you all as a reward......

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

W: Oh, do you know who that is? We didn't, but they were cute.

I mentioned this stat from Alisa Wood of KKR in a talk I did a few weeks ago, but did you know: There are more private equity firms in the United States than there are McDonald's? (~19,000 vs. 14,000) In 1980, there were 24 PE firms *total* in the U.S. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

We should probably promote this show more, it’s true.

You get it all when you back this show: talk about games no other podcast is going to cover—that glorious middle lane between AAA drudgery and indie obscurity that always gets lost in the internet drag—and Shatner-ian readings of old R&B songs.
we'll be fine for a bit, will probably put out a formal Work Please post once things have settled, but in the meantime i should probably try to plug the podcast i do with my best friends @ajohnagnello.bsky.social and @susanarendt.bsky.social a bit more www.patreon.com/posts/patron...

This came into my feed and I realized that I could read it now.

Nice little moment of language progress.

Saw the new Running Man trailer. I’m in. Very on the book, which will make it a good story for our time.

I imagine Stephen King is happy since he’s not a fan of the old movie, which is much more “inspired by” than “adaptation”. I have a soft spot for the schlocky old one though.

I like how the news will be like “while the President claiming Portland was ruled by a giant skeleton named Mr Nibbles is not strictly true, it does speak to the anxiety of many Americans”

Modern AI tools emulate the classic con-man tricks of mentalism, tricking people into believing that they’re far more clever - and sapient - than they actually are.

Today's adventure in JP/EN dual use website forms: "The character ',' may not be used".

It took me almost as long to prune out the commas as to fill out the form! After several tries, the last one was the comma in "2,000".😅

A particularly important review from @roomescapeartist.bsky.social, in that it showcases a very long list of things that you should never ever do.

An escape room review should never include the line "I asked my team, 'did I look cool?' while I was set on fire.”
Freaky Minds Horror Live Games - The Sculptor [Review] - Room Escape Artist
We do not recommend The Sculptor, an escape room at Freaky Minds Horror Live Games in Athens. They do not respect their players.

We know shit is real when the town makes a second announcement in English. First time that's happened.

(It will be tiny here, no concerns, they're just warning people to stay away from the water)

Today there was a strange thumping at our balcony door.

We have a small lizard that dashed through the door one day and refuses to leave. It's good at hiding.

The lizard was on the sliding doors and the thumping was a bird trying to eat it. Through the door. 😆

If a colleague had the reliability rate of an LLM, they would be fired. If ordinary* software did, it would be uninstalled.

LLMs require the chat format, because chat makes us party to the conversation. We insert the meaning ourselves - and hold it to a different standard. It's the mirror effect.
If a human told you things that were correct 80% of the time but claimed, flat out, with absolute confidence, that they were correct 100% of the time, you would dislike them & never trust a word they say. All I'm really suggesting is for people to treat chatbots with that same distrust & antagonism.
