If you think that professors exist as repositories of knowledge that students ask for answers, you’re missing the entire point of a college education.

We’re here to teach students how to do research, how to analyze and argue, how to think for themselves — how to find the answers on their own.
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

OK there's my Unhinged Literary Opinion: Pratchett is the greatest humanist/philosophical writer of our era.
and since he really does have a quote for everything, in the wise words of Sir Terry Pratchett: “Susan hated Literature. She’d much prefer to read a good book.”

As someone with many opinions about the Assassin's Creed series, I'm not surprised that Ubisoft backed away from an engaging premise like "Assassins Creed in Reconstruction." This is the company that centers the series plotline around an ideological fight about rights and calls it "apolitical."

There are some incredibly vital issues at this moment in time that go beyond like, oh we disagree on marginal tax rates but we can still be friendly. Trans rights are one of those issues. Trans rights are human rights and those are not negotiable. (see also: genocide; fascism. not unrelated!)

One thing that strikes me about this story is that AI (unsurprisingly) lacks one important human quality. Because it doesn't "understand" anything, it cannot understand the gravity of death.
Adam Raine, 16, died from suicide in April after months on ChatGPT discussing plans to end his life. His parents have filed the first known case against OpenAI for wrongful death.

Overwhelming at times to work on this story, but here it is. My latest on AI chatbots: www.nytimes.com/2025/08/26/t...

Wild to me how difficult some vendors make it to give them money. Currently in a month-long back and forth where I have been chasing/correcting/begging a vendor for any kind of information that would help me buy their product on our campus.
