As a librarian who works with Kanopy it's a good service you want people to use, but at the same time its pricing model is just not sustainable. One movie typically hovers around $150 for a one-year license and that adds up.

If you have a library that uses it, still do! But I get why many can't.

Like, Gogol Bordello is pretty popular and I just thought it was great to hear them used, but when Kaizers Orchestra *also* showed up my inner hipster started sweating.

Even with all that, I still think it's a fucking tragedy that the concept was axed because management worried about a game with this topic in this political climate. I'd rather a middling game tackling this topic exist than none at all, and it shouldn't even be *that* controversial.

I also imagine, much like they distorted history to lean into the most milquetoast romanticist version of the Revolution in AC:III, any product that would have come out of Ubisoft would have had the facade of historical accuracy but none of the substance, everything sanded down.

Probably helps that it's *also* about Ancient Aliens and whatever else they're working with nowadays, but the dynamic between Templars and Assassins in the games is basically political differences 101 aside from, like, the alien artifacts.

There are some incredibly vital issues at this moment in time that go beyond like, oh we disagree on marginal tax rates but we can still be friendly. Trans rights are one of those issues. Trans rights are human rights and those are not negotiable. (see also: genocide; fascism. not unrelated!)
