🧵Spotted at an A&P Show in Aotearoa New Zealand:

A tiny human (2?) has spotted a pen of puppies.
Studying them for a long moment, she bursts into tears.
Dad asks what's wrong and looking up at him in abject anguish she wails: "I WANT TO PAT THEM ALL!" (1)

This is a flat representation of art on the cafe wall, but it's extremely making me think about cheese.

Also, hojicha dutch coffee is criminally delicious.

If my phone keep autocorrecting "he's" to "she's" does that mean I'm passing the Bechdel test irl?

If touch starvation is a thing, I feel like connection/conversation starvation should also be a thing.

Sometimes it feels like I'm drowning in surface level, impersonal kind of conversation. The kind of coworker-y circumstantial friend-y, could have with anyone conversation.

Every so often it still blows my mind that the person who introduced me to punk music grew up to be conservative, a little racist, and just sort of generally the opposite of the entire punk ideology

Pro-tip: Waterboarding is not an aquatic sport. Don't ask your friend's husband how waterboarding with the dog went.

It was paddle boarding.

I am officially entering my sentient pile of blankets stage of the year. If anyone needs me, I will be gleefully in a hoodie, under a blanket, in front of a space heater, while clutching a warm mug of tea.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Doing your civic duty is important, even outside major elections. Georgia's public service commission election is important this year! Also, heck the conservatives. It's cold and rainy and still a beautiful day to see them out of office.

There is no pain like going to the effort of customizing a resume and cover letter for a role only to find the listing has been pulled down 😭

Speak up. It's scary, but you never know who you're helping in the process (also the dopamine hit of someone saying thank you because you said something they also wanted to say is unreal)

I wrote about Alma, Rodney Taylor and the various ways ICE is a risk to the disability community.

They don’t care about accommodations.

They’ve dismantled the oversight committees.

People are dying and becoming disabled inside these camps, and we must speak out:
Disabled People are Being Mistreated in ICE Detention Facilities
Why is no one talking about it? Where's the media? Where's the public outcry? Another example of the pervasive nature of ableism and how society views disabled people as expendable.

Anxiety is being VERY familiar with your car and refilling windshield washer fluid, but still worrying: Is this stuff toxic? Am I pouring it into the right spot? Oh no, I spilled some, is this going to make my car explode later?

I'm in the last half of the last book in a 9 book long series that I've been plinking away at since like 2021. I don't know that I'm ready for that end-of-a-story joy/grief/listlessness melange of weird feelings.
