You are not more likely to be killed by a coconut than a shark. This is a statistical error.

Coconuts Georg, who lives under a coconut tree and is killed by 10,000 coconuts a year is an outlier and should not have been counted.

my kids asked who Daft Punk was, and i braced myself for a difficult explanation, but as i talked, i realized it's actually easy for a kid to understand two guys who pretend to be robots and dress in robot costumes and sing like robots. the hardest part to explain was the statement "they're french"

A cartoon about mental health.

It would be funny if it weren’t serious. Maybe that is what makes it funny?

It's unfortunate how much defense against the planet-eating plagiarism machines has twisted the conversation about education and cultivating an informed populace.

Making foundational concepts more broadly understood is good. Making learning easier is good. Critical thinking, also good.

Very cool thread and just in time before the end of Women's history month. I did not know about this pioneering woman scientist responsible for so many foundational concepts in epidemiology. TIL
I'd like to tell you a story about a scientist you may not have heard of, but who shaped a lot of modern health research... 🧵
