always concerned about the state of the world. often teaching Latin and writing about the ancient Greek and Roman worlds and issues related to race. never tolerating race science. don't even get me started on IQ
Did you see this, @econcat.bsky.social ? He is just unbelievably vile--but you've known that for years . . .
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.

I wanted to share probably the most important sermon I’ve given and it’s while I’m being arrested. It’s torture pure and simple what happens at #Broadview. I’m ok, though I was thrown to the ground and choked with my pectoral cross. A review of the video shows I was peaceful - did I deserve this?

“While the AI industry claims its models can “think,” “reason,” and “learn,” their supposed achievements rest on marketing hype and stolen intellectual labor. In reality, AI erodes academic freedom, weakens critical reading, and subordinates the pursuit of knowledge to corporate interests.”
AI Is Hollowing Out Higher Education
Olivia Guest & Iris van Rooij urge teachers and scholars to reject tools that commodify learning, deskill students, and promote illiteracy.

@econcat.bsky.social 🤣. An economist asks: "Why did i nearly miss my connecting flight when I left the airport and took public transportation to the other terminal?"
I had no idea what this was about, thankfully, so I did a search and I love this travel site completely dunking on Smith for his... inability to follow basic signage. onemileatatime.com/news/economi...

As the world mourns Dr Watson, it’s worth noting that Rosalind Franklin was the first person to photograph DNA structure back in 1953. Watson helped steal her photograph and, with it, went on to win the Nobel prize. Franklin died at 37, unaware that her photograph was stolen

To repeat: I have studied a lot of cases of autocratization over the past 15 years. Wrote about them, taught about them, consulting about them.

I do not recall an opposition so apathetic, ignorant, and inept as the @democrats.org. They cling to their power, rather than fight for democracy. Shame.

One of the curiosities of genomics history is that James Watson was vehemently against cDNA sequencing (for ESTs), and fought with Craig Venter & Bernadine Healy who championed it. Tl;dr Watson ended up resigning from the HGP, Venter plowed ahead... and we now have #scRNAseq.

Hassan
King
Cortez-Masto
Shaheen
Kaine
Fetterman
Durbin
Rosen

Understand This Fact: Chuck Schumer is behind this. None of these 8 are up for reelection in 2026. Schumer asked them vote yes—they agreed. He's such a coward that he folded and won't even own it.
